used it on a modified house shot. i have it drilled 55x5x60 with a p3 hole (7/8bit 2.5inches deep) and hit the surface with 2000. out the box it was too sensitive to oil and to the dry. the ball is very clean thru the fronts and definitely gets down the lane even after a few games has been bowled. this ball reads the backend very well and makes a strong move off the spot. this ball is a great compliment to the original antics. once the original antics starts to burn up thru the fronts this crazy antics is a great ball to switch to. the color schemes are also a plus. you'll never have to check to see if you picked up the wrong ball or not!

Suuuuuper clean through the front, and great angularity past the pattern.  This ball perfectly complements the new Take Down.  It really allows me to get inside and open up the lane. Certainly a head turner. The color really grabs attention of other bowlers. I must have had 10 people ask me what ball that was the first night I threw it. All the new stuff is rolling really nice. Make sure you get two of these bad boys

Likes: This ball is extremely clean through the fronts. It really surprised me given that some of Columbia's higher end stuff has liked to roll early so this was a nice change in my opinion. I drilled my Crazy Antics 65 x 4 1/2" x 35, which puts the pin above my ring finger and sits the mass bias in my thumb. I like this layout because it slows the tradition down lane just enough to restore some extra hitting power. A lot of higher end asymmetric balls like to yank left and die for me so seeing this ball continue through the pins was a godsend for me. Out of the box I had a little too much length so i hand sanded it with a 3000 Abralon pan and gained about a foot earlier roll without sacrificing carry or entry angle. Bowlers of all sorts will enjoy the amount that this ball hooks and it is very versatile across the lane. Power players will be able to stand left and throw right, while bowlers who are rev challenged will be able to stay farther right and still see good recovery from this piece. All in all another solid piece from the minds at Columbia 300!

BALL REACTION


This ball is clean through the heads with a strong motion to the pocket.  On the house shot for me this ball a little has a little to much length to start with but once transition hit and the inside was beaten down this ball worked well.  I took the polish off and took it to 3000 and had a better look to start the night off and was able to stay with it all night and still carry.

On the sport patterns I threw on, this ball (out of box) worked best on medium to shorter patterns (39 to 42ft range).  I was able to play the outside and even with being polished I didn't get a real jerk once it left the pattern, just a strong move to the pocket.

Likes: 

First you cannot deny the CRAZY colors on this ball, it is a real eye opener going down the lane.
If you liked the reaction from the Antics but need to get some more length this is a great choice.

Coverstock versatility is a plus also with this ball without sacrificing carry.

Slower ball speeds will be able like this ball as it is clean through the heads with a good motion to the pocket.

Higher ball speeds will like it later in the set when their of equipment is burning up and losing carry.

Drilled mine pin up 5" from PAP. Mass Bias and 35 degree angle. This ball compliments the original Antics very well. I see almost the same amount of overall hook from a like drilled Crazy Antics as I do the Antics. Difference is, the Crazy Antics reads a few feet later and has a stronger move of the friction. If you hit it with a little surface it will actually out hook the Antics. This ball compliments Columbia 300s lineup very well. It fits between the Vow and the Smackdown easily.
Everyone should get a little crazy and put one of these in their bag!

I was fairly impressed with the Crazy Antics..I haven't thrown a C300 High Performance Ball that I've really liked since the Enigma.. The original Antics was not anything more impressive than the Enigma..What separated the Crazy Antics is the breakpoint shape.. Very clean through the front part of the lane, very angular on the backend.

What really impressed me however was that I could get reaction from different angles. I could play straighter on fresh oil, but still maintain solid ball motion as I moved my feet left into the lane. The more I opened my angles, I never really struggled to get the ball back to the pocket. Reminded me a lot of one of my favorite releases, the Hammer Taboo Jet Black. I used this ball on a Pro-Anvilane surface that is about 10-11 years old lightly scuffed out of box with a 2000 grit abralon pad.

I can see Crazy Antics not performing great on low friction lane surfaces like DBA-IQ or newer Pro-Anvilane. Would definitely need to be sanded a little bit to give the ball some teeth.

A little wild on the colors, but that's why they call it "Crazy"..The Orange, Purple, and White blended well while rolling down the lane so it didn't have that "beach ball" effect that I usually see with bright bowling balls. The colors also make real easy to see the transition points of the ball in motion. I could definitely tell when I missed at the release and when I over juiced my rotation.

After having success, but a limited chance to use the original Antics due to the aggressive cover and strong asymmetric core I opted to drill the Crazy Antics pin down, approx. 5.5 x 5, with a small P3 hole.  I was hoping this would keep the ball from flaring as much and allow me more opportunity to use it due to my higher rev rate.

After having used this ball on both AMF HPL and Brunswick Pro Avilane, and both house and Sport patterns I can say this was the right layout for me.  This keeps the flares tight, still lets the cover get through the front part of the lane almost as easily as the Eruption Pro, and then read the friction with a hard, quick, but controllable move.  Lower rev players will probably want to go with pins up and larger weight holes to take advantage of the strong core, but for higher rev players this type of layout makes this ball a versatile piece with excellent pin carry.  Not to mention it’s always going to be the best looking ball on the rack!

Overall this ball is about 5 and 3 stronger than an Eruption pro with a similar layout, with a much stronger move on the back end.  It’s also about the same amount of overall hook as a Take Down also with a similar layout, but with much more of a skid/flip type move than the Take Down.  And then this is about 2/1 less than a similar drilled Smack Down.

I would recommend this ball to anyone looking for something clean through the fronts with a strong move down lane to open up a pattern.  Also be sure the match the strength of the layout you choose to your rev rate to get the most out of this Crazy ball.
