We laid this ball out with the pin in the palm and created a 45 degree angle with the PAP and cg. It required an extra hole in the thumb positive quadrant to make it legal as well as to pull the bowtie over to the right spot to minimize the chances of flaring over the finger holes. This pattern was chosen because I had had success with an orange pearl messenger back in the day, and wanted to see what impact it would have on this ball.
The fresh house pattern it was tested on is close to sport compliant on 3 yr old HPL (medium - light volume, 38' buff). With the box surface on the ball, it bordered on uncontrollable. After a little track was burned in and a little oil carried down, it got a little friendlier, but was still far from something I would choose in competition.
I brought the surface down to 600 with the track, and tried it again the next day. I was impressed with the ball, as long as i got around it as late as possible. Early rotation caused the ball to read the pattern too early, however the late turn created a late but very controllable breakpoint. Excessive speed dropped the carry percentage.
If I were to compare this ball to others in my arsenal, I would say it picks up a roll about as early as the Absolute Inferno. The heavy roll does not continue all the way through the pindeck as the Absolute does, but it gives you a very good early read on the pattern. With the right type of rotation, this is a very productive ball. It is in my tournament bag.
Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions.
