- Description: The Eruption features the same low RG, medium Differential Resurgence core that has been a part of the successful Burst and Outburst this past season and even more historically for Columbia 300, it was the engine of the extremely successful Resurgence. We’ve wrapped the Resurgence core in a new variation of the New Era veneer that was also popular on the Resurgence and Burst, it’s called New Era Skid Flip. We started with the same base material, however, the pearl additive we used causes the ball to skid further and recover harder down lane. While this cover is weaker in oil, it is quite aggressive when it sees friction and really compliments the low RG Resurgence core. We’re pouring New Era Skid Flip in a combination of two gorgeous colors, Electric Blue and Ultra Violet with bright green logos. The finishing preparation for the Eruption is a four stage process including our factory polish. We start with 800 Grit Abranet, followed by one stage of 1000 Abralon and a stage at 2000 Abralon. Leaving the ball at 2000 grit before polishing it makes the ball smooth enough to easily clear the front part of the lane and the texture under the polish helps it to not hydroplane through the hook spot and produce fantastic back end.

Likes: This ball goes very long and smooth through the heads and has a nice controllable flip in the back. If you are looking for a ball that will work great on light to medium oil, this is your ball, it reminds me of the Beast, with its ease of control

Likes:This Ball is really clean through the front part of the lane with a nice sharp backend motion. This ball will open up most house patterns, as you can stand inside the oil line and throw it to the dry part of the lane with a very nice controllable reaction on the backend. This ball comes polished out of the box, I took a 3000 abralon pad and just barely scratched the surface to put some teeth marks on it but also had the polish on it. This made a world of difference, as the ball hooked about 2 feet sooner down lane and really made a nice controllable hook at the break point. This by far is one of my favorite balls right now to use. Bugsy Kelly and Columbia 300 did an AWESOME job on this ball!

My PAP is 5 3/4 inches over and 1 inch up. I drilled mine pin under my middle finger with a large shift and a low hole. I noticed my Eruption out of the box was very clean through the front part of the lane with a smooth flip but continuous motion downlane. I felt like for me it was a bit too sensitive to the wet/dry for my liking and I leaned on it with a new 4000 pad. Ball is much more to my liking and is very versatile. Ive thrown it on 35ft and 39ft and house shots so far and its rolled well on all of them. I think this will be a must have ball in th bag!! Especially if you like the Burst line!

Likes: I was very excited to get the Eruption. I've been a big fan of every ball that has come out with the Resurgence core, and this ball is no exception. This ball really compliments the rest of the Outburst/Burst line very well! Upon throwing my Eruption (drilled pin above the ring - 5", no extra hole) I was impressed with how clean it was through the front of the lane. As the lanes start to dry up, or if the volume of oil is thinner this ball really shines! This ball really fits a need for the Columbia 300 line. If you're looking for a ball that clears the fronts with ease and has a lot of pop in the backend the Eruption is right up your alley!

Dislikes: If you are looking for a ball that is more for the medium to higher volumes of oil you will want to look more at the World Beater, Outburst, or the new Ransom Demand that is coming out in the near future. Those balls will excel more in that environment then the Eruption since the Eruption is so clean through the fronts.

Likes: Even with a pin under layout, this ball clears the fronts as much as the Burst. The breakpoint is much more controlled, though. Not as angular, but just as strong. With a strong enough drilling, this ball is stronger than a Burst. But not as much as the Outburst. A perfect compliment to a wonderful line.

Dislikes: The box polish is not needed. Take the shine off and it reads the lane so much better.

Likes: Pin up layout this time with no hole needed. I can get in as far as a symmetric ball will ever allow me. No worry about this one hooking back. It does every time as long as there isn't a 45' flood out there. The Ransom Demand or World Beater would be much better options for heavy oil, but this one is a great step down when the track gets fried. I tested this one on Scorpion last night and just crushed them playing 14-9. I was creating room as the lane broke down. The cover didn't chew up the lane. It took just enough off to open things up. Such a perfect ball for medium patterns of all kinds. House or sport.

Dislikes: Again, take the polish off and it reads all 60 feet perfect. Polish will make it miss the breakpoint at times.

Likes: I have adjusted the surface on my Eruption with a ball spinner and Abralon pads and have it right around 1000/2000 area. My ball is drilled pin above the bridge, cg kicked out and does not have a hole. It is realllllllly clean through the front part of the lane but saves enough energy to still continue to roll through the pins.

I fore see myself using this on short to medium patterns. If you a lacking a ball in your arsenal for just that, I recommend the Eruption!

Likes: I have adjusted the surface of my Eruption and taken some of the shine off using a ball spinner and a 2000 abralon pad.

This ball is super clean through the front part of the lane while still conserving energy to finish through the pins. I currently have mine drilled with pin above the ring finger, cg kicked out a little bit and no weight hole.

I fore see myself utlizing this ball on shorter to medium conditions due to it's tendencies when I use it. A must have if you're lacking something in your arsenal for just that!

Likes: Eruption #1- 5" x 4"(pin above ring) w/ 1 1/16th" x 3 1/2" weight hole. 2000 grit abralon. From the first shot i knew this ball would be something special. The proven resurgence core coupled with a new coverstock makes an incredible combination. The strong pin placement along with a massive hole allows the Eruption to breeze through the heads and make a predictable and smooth move off the spot in the back end. With such a clean coverstock the energy retention is pretty tough to match, despite it covering a lot of boards it'll stay in my hands longer as the night progresses even if the heads start to burn.

Eruption #2- 4 1/2" x 4"(pin below bridge) w/ a 7/8th" x 3" low weight hole. 2000grit abralon. After drilling the first Eruption i wanted the 2nd to be a little stronger with a little more side weight for a quicker move off the spot. I got exactly what was looking for, with a lower pin placement and no factory shine this Eruption starts earlier but never stops moving. It begins picking up in the mid and makes a dramatic move in the back end.

Likes: Shot 300 within first 2 sets of use. I have not found a condition I cannot use this ball on. Very smooth through the fronts and always makes the turn. Absolutely a great piece to follow in the burst line!

Likes: My ball is drilled pin above the bridge, cg kicked out and does not have a hole. This ball is very clean through the fronts with any trace of oil and have a good solid backend reaction. This ball is definately going to be used on the shorter patterns and medium oiled patterns. If they start to dry out a little this is a great ball for that as well. I can get it down the lane with ease and it still gets itself back to the pocket. If you liked the Burst and even the Outburst, this ball is very comparible to those and probably fits right in between those two. Gets down the lane easier than either one of those balls and has a little more backend for me.

i drilled my eruption about 3 weeks ago and love what im seeing from it so far. i drilled it to replace my original bedlam to fit as a first transition ball. i was a little skeptical because of the low RG core i didnt know if it would clear the heads enough and still have kick downlane.
bowler specs:
left handed 17.5-18 mph off hand 395rpm tilt 8* rotation 40*
ball specs: 15lbs 65x4 3/4x35 no hole at 4000 by hand. no hole required. this put the pin above my ring with the CG angle in slightly

i have to say i this ball is great on everything i have used it on so far. i first used it on a fresh medium house shot in box surface and it was a bit squirly downlane. a lot of over under to say the least. i am definitely not a fan of polish on anything but i figured i would try it anyway. so i took the polish off just with a 4000 pad by hand and got a much more consistent read. this ball was much cleaner through the fronts than my burst which is 55x5x45 at 2000 with a much more defined move off the break. on this condition it got to about 40ft and made a smooth read at the end of the mids and just continued directly to the pocket. it was amazing how smooth yet backendy this ball is. it is really hard to explain.

on the medium sport shot i started with my burst playing outside angles about 7 to 3-4 downlane and chased the oil into about 11 at the arrows same breakpoint. the burst was starting to quit downlane so i moved to the eruption and it picked up right where the burst left off. cleaner through the fronts, same smooth move in the mids except it continues the turn on the backend. a great compliment to the burst when the lanes start to transition and your fresh balls are starting to burn up.

conclusion: with only 25 games on this ball i havent seen everything it can do but my initial impressions are that it is a great first transition ball for sport and college patterns and with a little surface can be great on fresh sport and house patterns. i love the resurgence core and this is a great compliment to the burst.

the only negative thing to say about this ball is that in the OOB surface it will need a defined friction spot to make a consistent read. an easy fix by taking the polish off and taking it to 4000ab. at 2000 i think this ball would be great on fresh house shots and let you use it late into game 2 or possibly game 3 of league

I honestely cant say enough about this ball. It was produced for the later games when a player needs to move in and still get the angle needed to carry, and it does just that. This ball reminds me of the much loved Victory Road as far as clearing the heads with ease and producing that big backend that most pearls do... The only ball even close to this ball in the Columbia lineup currently is the Ransom and maybe perhaps the Dark Encounter, so this is a much needed ball for columbia lovers,etc. I have seen multiple drillings so I can say with the symetrical core, that its very driller friendly which is a great bonus.

Dislikes:

the only dislike with this ball is that the box surface is garbage for most lane conditions!!! Very squirty on the backends and basically with the polished coverstock, it simply hates oil! I cant even use this ball in league with box condition because it responds to hard off the friction and then goes for days when it comes to the puddle in the middle of the lane... Most bowlers will not change the surface unfortunately and will hate this piece from the get go. Just be open minded and try different surfaces,etc because when you find the right one, you cant do anything but strike.

About the ball:

Resugence and Burst fans look out cause here is the Eruption......One of the best weightblocks ever in a mid price ball.... you cant ask for more..
