Description: The Columbia Swerve goes through the pins like never seen before.  Columbia combined a Reflex coverstock and Swerve core and is introducing Hyper Shock technology with this ball.  The Relex coverstock has a high traction surface the sends lots of energy to the core due to its boosted crosslink dense polymer matrix.  The core has a lower strength of mass bias which allows for more drilling options that appeal to a wider range of bowler.  This core produces a little bit stronger mid lane read than most symmetrical cores, but it does have the predictability of a symmetrical ball.  The Hyper Shock technology is worth getting excited about.  Columbia added a material to the inner core to enhance and help propel the ball through the pins.  The viscoelasticity of this material helps minimize the effect the pins have on the ball as it moves through the deck.  The technology in this ball gets you to the pocket and then drives through the pins like never before.

After having the ball for close to a month now it has truly impressed me. It's shape of strong and cuts thru any meadium to heav oil. Great first game ball for sure. It's a little less than the Track Paradox but a super performer. The hit on this ball is amazing. Definitely a big ball from Columbia 300. I have a regional this weekend so hopefully I can use it out the gate.

I drilled my Swerve pin over bridge and Mass Bias under the Thumb. I was looking for a controllable strong rolling ball to combat a variety of conditions and have been amazed by the Swerve. I love the reaction and strong yet smooth roll of it and how it reads the lane.

The thing that caught my eye the most was the difference in sound and pin action as the ball went through the pins. the new Hypershock technology that Columbia has developed may be a true game changer. My carry percentage on 50/50 hits (I like to use this term for light swisher hits that carry about half the time) was amazing. I really noticed a difference in how many of those hits carried for strikes. This ball is a must have and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Description: The Swerve is the first ball to use Hyper Shock technology. Columbia added a material to the inner core to enhance and help propel the ball through the pins.  The viscoelasticity of this material helps minimize the effect the pins have on the ball as it moves through the deck.  The technology in this ball gets you to the pocket and then drives through the pins like never before.

Reaction: It reads the lanes early but has a smooth continuous motion through the pins. For me this is the ball I use out of the gate on fresh to really control the lanes front to back. It has a very good midlane read that continues through to the pin deck. Great ball choice if you're looking for something predictable.

Likes: I drilled this ball 65x4x35.  This ball on the THS I bowl on is a little to strong due to my ball speed, I can use it but need to play deep inside and keep my speed up.  The new technology is amazing.  This ball hits like a truck and carries very well.

On the WBTA Montreal pattern this ball gives me miss room to the right.  Most of the bowlers have to wait for the pattern to open up to swing it but for me I cannot play it straight.  The backend is very strong when it can glide through the oil and save it for he backend.  Again carry is very good due to the new technology.

Overall anybody looking to carry better this is the ball to have.  The technology in this will carry more ten pins.  I love mine and plan on drilling another and polishing it.
Depending on ball speed surface changes will be needed to optimize this new technology.

Dislikes: None great addition to the C300 family and I cannot wait to see what cover they throw around this new technology to make the line even better!

Likes:  Hook. For. Days.  I really don't know if I can miss to the right on a house shot with this monster.  As far as the 'Hypershock' part goes, I tried to be 100% objective when I first threw this ball.  It went through the pins amazingly, there's no denying that, but I can't tell how much of that is from the new outer core.  I suppose when it comes to winning a tourney, every small percentage makes a difference on the final tally.  Regardless of any skepticism on the marketing, Swerve rolled fantastic on the fresh.  18 bagger at one point.  Once the heads started to go, Swerve went back to the bag - to be expected with such an R(a) beast.
I didn't have much success on the sport pattern, but I have only had a chance to roll it on short (34').  The jury is still out on that.

Dislikes: Poverty. I dislike poverty.

Loving my Swerve!
Currently I have two of these -

1) Pin above the bridge with fresh 1000 surface. I use this on mostly medium patterns when I need something that allows me to still play the pattern a bit straighter and restore some energy to go through the pins.

2) Pin below the bridge out of the box - this ball has been great for me even just on house shots.  It reads the lanes early but has a smooth continuous motion through the pins. Great if you're looking for something predictable.

MUST HAVE!!!!!  :D :D :D

The motion and carry from the Swerve is amazing!! I don't have lots of hand and this is the first (High end) ball that has worked great for me. I have two in my bag one pin up and 1 pin down. First set with pin up was 259-300-279. The ball always recovered from a right miss, but hit just as hard. With not having a lot of hand when I usually miss inside I'm shooting a ten pin!! Not with the Swerve seems to help carry better when I would usually leave a week 10. I'm able to throw the Swerve for awhile into most tournaments. I believe this is a must have in your bag!!! This ball is very predictable.

Can be to strong at times for your league patterns or lower volume patterns.

I drilled one of these because I wanted to see how it would compare to the Warrior Elite and the Paradox.  This ball gets down the lane longer than the other two and makes a very impressive move when it hits the break point.  The real thing that blows me away is how well it carry's. When I get lined up with this ball, I expect to strike every time I hit the pocket.  The hyperSHOCK technology in the cover works.

Likes:  Swerve (500, 2000) - Pin in the ring finger and CG kicked out (positive axis point) is 4 3/8 right 1/2 up
Pattern was Fresh PBA Scorpion 47ft on Brunswick Anvilane independent bowling center
On one of the longest PBA patterns I was able to see the swerve really work and take shape on the lanes.  After the first game of breaking the pattern down a little I moved in and played through the 4th  and 3rd arrow (between 20 – 15).  I didn’t have to slow the ball down and or make sure I hooked it off my hand as much as possible.  I was soft with the roll off my hand and allowed the Swerve to do the work, I was happy with the reaction and the movement the Swerve made toward the 1-3.  One of the biggest questions I had even before I moved was how long would I have to grind it out leaving corner pins until I could get the ball to strike.  The answer was I didn’t have to wait the Swerve made its move at the end of the pattern and stored enough energy with going light or flush I was able to see the carry right away and that is note-worthy being that the Swerve high performance and I saw why.

Likes: This ball for me blends two worlds that I don't often see, predictability AND hit. Think Gamebreaker smooth, and super high end hit. I was impressed by this ball for the simple fact that I started the night with it in an 8 man per pair league, at a high friction house, and ENDED the night with it, playing much steeper angles, and the ball retained energy and still hit as hard as game 1 with fresh heads and crisp backends. I drilled mine 60x5x40 and it's just a fantastic, super readable piece. I have yet to polish mine, because it works so well at box finish. All I've done so far is retune the cover back to box a couple times. Super continuation, super predictability.

Dislikes: Absolutely nothing.

Most people will think that this new Hypershock Technology is just a gimmick to sell balls. That couldn't be further from the truth! I was absolutely amazed at how well this ball got through the pins with being a low RG asymmetric core. Even my misses that I thought for sure would be a flat ten carried very well. The core is not only very versatile but the overstock takes surface and polish really well. I have had success doing both and being able to strike. I will say that I think this ball needs a few games on it for it to really come to life. Out of box I would say it was only mediocre, but after about 3-4 games I could notice a significant difference in how much more the ball was hooking. It always gave me traction in oil, but got through the front of the lanes easy enough to have enough energy to get all ten pins down. This ball will definitely be a huge hit!!

For me, this ball is quite predictable and makes a definitive move when it encounters friction. I drilled one pin up with the mass bias near the thumb with 2000 surface. I wanted some backend motion but I didn't get too much because this cover starts early. This balls works best with tighter angles on fresh in my opinion. i do not have much axis rotation but because of the predictability there are other balls designed to be more responsive downline such as the SwerveFX which i drilled exactly the same. i do see the hyper shock technology in action compared to other equipment. There is a difference.
