I picked up a used ball from eBay and used the drilling almost as it came to me, having to move the thumb out around 1/4" and replaced the slug with my custom molded slug. I was excited to post a review, even though the ball is in my locker, and I forgot to memorize the pin placement, etc. I believe it is drilled with pin below ring finger and the CG kicked out an inch to the right... 2-3" pin out.

I have only used the ball for one series, but I am already SOLD on it for slow speed med-rev players. I played today just before they laid down the standard X-mas tree pattern... so I was on a day old pattern... but it did not seem too squirrely. I was standing 20, throwing pretty straight up the 8-board oil line. When I pushed it a bit to the right, it came back with a vengeance (as long as stayed down on the shot). When I pulled it a bit, it held nicely as long as I kept the speed up. I ended up throwing a 621 with NO practice shots (chopped a spare the first frame and had two bad splits in game three) and am REALLY LOOKING FORWARD to testing it on a fresh league shot. I will try to update this report after I have more time with it. For now, I will describe it as a "control ball" with good power... predictable... consistent.

It's a reactive ball.
Coverstock Technology: Accelerator-New reactive formula provides length with a more controllable move at the break point. Hence the R in throttle-R

Med speed (14-16), Med rev's, high track righty... 195-205 average...

On fresh patterns, I may have ben "babying it" due to what looks like a highly polished "go long" cover stock... and it wanted to start up too strong when it hit the fresh backends...

I recently took out the Throttle-R to battle my home lanes 2-day old Christmas tree pattern with carry down. BOY... WHAT a difference... I came inside (for me) throwing 15 out to around 8, feet at 27... with decent speed (for me = 15-16) and at first it looked like it would go too long, but at ten feet from the deck... ZOOM... a great strong arc (almost a snap but WAY more controllable) and a 243-224-226-222 with NO warm-ups!

I will report more about the fresh shot once I go try it again with more speed from a teensy bit inside tonight during a fresh league shot.

Spacely out!

New review on fresh oil shot!

I just used my Throttle-R on our new house shot to pre-bowl two sets... similar Christmas tree pattern to before, with a bit more oil... and after a 169 game trying to find a line (started around 17 at arrows given my previous success with this line but it squirted with the extra oil), I bowled 223, 243, then a 246, 253, 249 = 748 set. I ended up with a SIMPLE line from the 12 board at the arrows out to 4-5 board at the break point... and never had to move more than a board or two with my feet... I did increase the speed just a bit as they changed a bit.

I am so HAPPY TO BREAK OUT OF MY RECENT SLUMP (had a 519 and a 493 in one week!) and felt real confused. Hopefully this marks the end of the <600 series for a while...

Now if I could just get my confidence up with my Full Throttle... the thumb is a bit loose and I can not get in a comfort zone with it...

Accelerator my A!
Lane Conditions: Medium-Light Oil
Typical Conditions: House Shot
Type of Lane: All Synthetic
What part of the lane did you play? Second Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 15
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
What grit was the surface of the ball? 600
Likes: This ball really really likes to strike!
Rock hard candy synthetics this thing is a champ combined with medium to light oil patterns. Can be longer.
Dislikes: NOt really a skid snap pearl, may be a blessing in disquise!

Ok I bowl in a house they call "Lefty death". NOt the righties as long as lefties don't win they don't even know you are there or what the hell is going on in lefty land! I mean who cares right?

Condition is rock hard Brunswick Pro anvil lanes with a light sprinkling of very thin and ready to change oil out to 40 feet.

It turns out that the shot for lefties is a strange 10 to 6 or 10 to 4 swing. Don't bother two and oning it just hit right near 10 and swing almost to the gutter and if you don't fluff you may strike all day.!

This ball sure can!

Drilled 4 3/4 X 4..... 3.5 inch pin out has the pin about 1 inch above the ring finger. (Weak for me). I've been going to these drillings instead of pin next to ring to get more skid and travel in the midlanes where all balls drilled stronger have been reading hard and early in the midlanes.

This ball though it acts like a softer pearl shell(one of the new 72 to 75 hardness balls)(but it is not it is listed at 75 to 78 hardness) seems to never really exectute the classicskid snap pearl reaction. It is sort of quick straightaway skid followed by we're bored could we please leave the dufus bowling alley? All Right already!

Now back to the ball.. Accelerator coverstock means it accelerates what? For a pearl this thing is really not skid snappy!! BUT for a pearl it is reading all way down the lane.
If you didn't know this year I have just offered to watch HER kids and this coverstock is a lot like the bowling ball she is not getting.

How's that? WELLLL It is NOT Exciting!
IN fact accelerator which is 500 grit sand + 2000 degree polish is the out of box surface. Maybe it is this 500 grit base sand which makes one think this ball is reading earlier than other rock hard pearls.

But as a result this ball has no skid snap but on syntetics it is a jewel. It reads early with it's higher rg compared to balls like the V2 pearl and El Nino Wrath with their low rg are revving much faster and harder in the heads and midlane than this medium high rg core. And yet they have the older style rock hard coverstocks that really were skid snap! Due to skiddier coverstock.

Like other reviews with a high pin and weaker pin position this baby was ready for College ball! In other words go straight and then start flaring and then curl hard and with tons of carry into the pocket(slurve!). Despite it's higher rg it does not get down the lane as fast as those mopes who harrassed you in the parking lot!

As a result of this combination this ball never seems to get behind the head pin and was carry ing like crazy from outside 6 at the breakpoint. Numerous 6 and 7 baggers in my practice session with the usual oil shortage on the lanes!

Someone recently stated that the Rip is a similar ball to this yeah maybe but that one has more skid snap in it giving the prerequisite pearl ball over under. This ball has none of that!

Glad I got it!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I bought this after watching one of our areas big studs tear up the local lanes then go away from this gem and then struggle and then come back and tear them up with the Throttle/R.
PPS I think that our smooth friend above may have really hit on something to give you a boring look but a heck of a lot of strikes!
PPPs Not accelerator but dullerator!
PPPPS closest ball in reaction out is the very nice and predictable X-factor original with its seemingly softer cover also.
PPPPPS now my strikes look just like Mr. 10 in the pit above.
Sometimes corner pins being blown back straight back vs more trouble kick outs and flats for my more traditional skid snap balls!

I went to 14 pound equipment after hurting a shoulder this season. I sold all my 15's, including my Throttle-R. JUST found a NIB 14 pounder and bought it... anxiously awaiting its arrival. It turns out to be a good ball when the shot is "squirrely" like it was tonight. We have 2 200+ bowlers roll a 497 and a 460 at us tonight! I only got a 508 and was fourth high out of 10! I am looking FORWARD to punching the new one out and seeing if it is as good as I remember!
