I must say that this ball does hook more than the Bully...but this ball finishes horrible. After throwing this ball for about a month now...i must say the reaction at first...was great...now it SUCKS. I first used this on a basic house wall shot...worked great. Moved on to a modified reverse block...Terrible...But to my suprise..on a 29ft short pattern...w/ a HIGH polish this ball worked well. All in all w/o going into to much detail...this would be a good ball for a bowler whos on a house/wall shot.

The ball being drilled was a 3” pin out with 2.50 oz top weight.
Drilling: Pin 4 1/2" from PAP and Mb 4 1/4" from PAP (approximately 45 degrees) pin is Above Ring finger, 3" above grip midline. No Weight hole.
 
Bowler Information:
Track diameter is 10 1/2.
PAP is measured at 5 1/4 over and 3/8" up.
Average ball speed (foul line to head pin) is 17 mph.
Axis rotation is typically 45 degrees
Initial rev rate is typically 300 rpm, "Tweener"
Lane Condition and Pattern: Village Bowl in Memonomee Falls WI. Wood Lanes Oiled to 40 feet very clean backends. Great shot so far this year, slight oil outside, dry track and then medium to heavy oil inside.

REVIEW:
I want to 1st off Thank BILL MONCE with Bob's Business for giving me a lesson on tuesday 5 nights before trying this Ball. The "Test" Ball came out of the box with a light sand, around 1000 grit. I have noticed the final product balls that have come into my shop are sanded with a "Clean and Smooth" surface shiner than my test ball. I knew this ball was going to be a strong ball, so I drilled it to go a sliver longer like my Track Mutant, which is the ball I also used this night and compared the reaction to the Big Bully. In practice I was standing left foot around 26 looking at 12th board. I had a very similiar reaction to my Mutant through out the entire lane and was striking at will with both balls. I guess Bill Monce's lesson was really helping me. The 1st game with the Big Bully I shot 279, then 268 the second game, but half way through the second game my thumb stuck and I opted the last game to throw my Mutant for 248 and a 795 series. A nice showing for a new ball. Great reaction on the lane, fast revving, clean through the fronts with a smooth but strong back end reaction. I did not know if it was the Ball or my Lesson from Bill or Both but a pretty magical night.


Compared to my other Balls:
Track Mutant: I thought the two balls were very close from the time they came off my hand to the way they revved to the smooth but strong breakpoint to a pin crushing carry. I really like what Columbia and Danny Speranza are doing right now with their coverstock technology, BASF is suppling Danny with some good coverstocks right now, they definately are on the right path.

Average ball speed 18 mph, Im a cranker.
I cant stress how much I love this ball. It gets through the heads fairly easy. Very predictable breakpoint. When it turns the corner nothing is going to stop it, it just keeps on driving. The carry on this ball is unbelievable! It has the best hit and mix than any other ball I have ever had my hand on. It out performs my raging, intense, and ultimate infernos. And that is VERY VERY hard to do. Out of the box i shot 803, then followed it up the next night with a 748. I have been bowling with this ball for three weeks, and i have yet to shoot under 690 with it. Not bad for a 17yr old.

Thank you Columbia for this juggernaut of a ball.

I am a strong , full lift bowler. This ball carries better than any ball I have ever thrown. Where you generally start at you wont be changing lines all night long.

Now heres where she doesn't work, When the lanes dry out ( 2nd shift ) , You can't throw it hard enough. She also has a slight problem with corner pins at the start of the lane break down.  When this happens, just tighten up the line a bit and continue. Definitely don't try to swing the ball after the lane breaks down

This ball does what it is suppose to. It rolls early and has a continuous backend. The best results i see this ball works on is when there are heavy heads and clean backend or mild carry down. The Big Bully keeps the pins low and hits really hard.

Out of the box finish is great on a fresh pattern. I just tried it polished on
a wet/dry pattern but it was kind of tough. I got a little over and under. But then again it's all about surface.

Also i see if you keep the layouts simple on the bully series the balls roll great. Too aggressive layouts makes the ball burn out too early leaving you not really anything on the backend.

So far my 2nd favorite ball from Columbia next to the original and perl mica beasts. I drilled 2 of them in the spring, 1 being a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 leverage with a hole on my PAP hit with 2000 and then shinned up. Second one pin in below the bridge, CG is kicked 3 inches out and X-hole on the PAP left in box surface.

Ball #1 is a great down and in ball where I can bouce off the dry and blow the racks away. It needs more surface for anything with heavy oil. I use this ball on the #2 pattern of the PBA regionals alot with good success. It get's down the lane with little effert and then just turns up nice and smooth.

Ball #2 is more of my heavy oil ball. PBA pattern #5 works well with this ball and drill pattern as I just look at 25 and fade the ball back into the 1-3 all day long. It works with wet/dry because it doesn't jump off the dry.
