So its been about 5 days now since I drilled the Vow.Mine is drilled a simple pin up between the bridge nothing fancy.
All I can say is wow its unreal. Being a lower rev bowler its not hard for me to get a little flat with any ball and have it either roll out or not get the ten out. Its just the nature of my game. This ball has given me a look at the pocket that can be only described as fun! If I throw a good shoot it knocks ten down. If I get it a little far right it screams back and crushes this is where I would normally see a roll out.. But not at all with the Vow, it reads off the spot strong. Even a bad miss right has been kicking the 7pin out for me on the lighter hits.

It gives me the feel of the more I move left the harder it comes back to find the pocket. Its given me angle and carry that im thrilled with. I could probably type a book on this ball lol.
Clean,Angle,Carry, are 3 great words to describe this ball.

If you havnt already, ORDER this ball you will not be dissapointed.

I drilled this Vow last week with pin above the ring finger, I am right handed and have been a Columbia 300 Ambassador for 3 years now. This ball is exactly what the C300 line needs, this ball will let you play left of 4th arrow with its smoothness through the heads and massive continuation and backend motion down lane with awesome hitting power. But you can play anywhere on the lane with this ball and get great results.
This pearl ball is very nice looking on the shelf, but when it rolls down the lane and hits the pins it looks even better!!!
The Vow will be very versitle to many style types of bowlers, when this ball is released to the public in Febuary it will be a HUGE success.
Thank you Bugsy Kelly and the mad scientist of Columbia 300!!

LANE CONDITION

Likes: great for medium oil

PICTURES AND/OR VIDEOS I drilled the Vow 50 x 35 x 3 1/2 pin to pap (straight player) and bowled on a not so fresh house shot. My thought was to use a layout that was not condition specific. I also used a Violent Eruption with a similar drilling angle which allowed me to get a decent comparison between the two. They both got through the front of the lane without any issues. However, the Vow picked up slightly sooner and was a couple of boards stronger on the back end. Both balls carried very well. The Vow will suit any style very well on medium house conditions, along with the Viper and Chameleon PBA patterns, and medium WTBA patterns such as Atlanta and Seoul.

COMMENTS

Likes: This ball is very smooth and hits like a truck. When compared to the Violent Eruption, it is just as smooth through the front but reads the midlane sooner and comes off the spot a little smoother instead of angular.

Dislikes: With the current surface, needs some the lanes to broken in a little. On the house condition I bowl on the fronts have enough oil to make this ball a little to long. Need to hit with 2000 to use on these types of conditions.

LANE CONDITION

THS: modified Stone Street 42 ft
Sport: WTBA Athens 40ft 2:1 ratio

COMMENTS

We really liked the look on the lanes for the Columbia 300 Vow. This ball is likely to match up for a lot of bowlers on the typical house shots and volumes we face. The ball offers easy length and a nice reaction off the dry. The early revving core will give the Vow that strong continuous roll. For sport shots, out of box would likely be perfect for when the medium volume patterns have broken down a bit. You could also take the polish off and get a smoother roll. However, given how nice this ball is with the factory finish, just get an Oath to compliment it.

Likes: Strong symmetrical ball with pearl. The color really ties the arsenal together.

Dislikes: Took off polish - didn't realize how strong it was.

I have two of these after falling in love with the first one.

I was looking for a strong symmetrical and pearlized bowling ball to use. I am trying to shy away from asymmetrical equipment to help me keep my speed down and allow me to hit up on it. I have this habit of wanting throwing a strong ball, weakening up the wrist and throwing it too fast. My momentum likes to keep going so I do lose track of my speed after a while. I looked to the Vow to keep me even keel with my ball speed and allow my hand to create angle and carry, as opposed to crazy strong equipment.

First one was drilled 70x5.25x35. Pin over fingers, slight cg kick in case I wanted to put a hole on the side. I got a strong benchmark motion where the ball easily cleared the heads, and made a sharp backend. I decided the motion in the back was a little too excessive, and I had toned it down. Now I prepare the cover with 500-1k-rubbing compound. This will be good when my ball exits the pattern between 7-12.

Second one needed to be same length, but less "tumble" in the back. I was looking for a motion that wouldn't fly at the end of the pattern off the fresh. Drilling is 70x5.25x75, 15/16 P3 Hole, 2.5" deep. This allows me to play exit points either really close or really far from the headpin. In longer patterns, I will have to play close to the headpin, have a ball that will make enough motion, but not go completely sideways either. This ball/layout allowed me to do that. On the extreme short patterns, the lane will bring the ball to the headpin and this layout combination allows me to do that.
