I'm impressed.  That just about sums it up perfectly.

The Wired has the core of the Wow and Wow Pearl, but an added Ti nugget, which had made the Messenger series one of the best lines any company has come up with and made the original Cuda/C almost legendary.

The Wow and Wow Pearl are very "rolly" balls, especially being particle balls.  I expected the Ti nugget to help give a bit more flip to the core, but the resin coverstock gives the Wired some nice kick off the dry as well.  The combination is nothing short of awesome.  You get a ball the revs up hard but doesn't make a move until it gets through the heads and midlane, and when it does move, it's almost reminscent of a flippier Purple Offset Hammer, that hard revving-action and controllable, yet powerful flip on the back, sawing the pins apart.

My Wired is drilled with the pin above the bridge and a 1" kick of the CG.  Final specs are 5 1/4 by 4 1/4.

I wouldn't recommend this ball for heavy oil as it is a pearl resin, and the drier dries will be too dry for it, but anything inbetween the two extremes should be fine for the Wired.  I'll give it a 9.5 out of 10 because I think that this will be one of the best kept secrets out there and I was really THAT impressed.

This is the best reving ball Columbia has made. It does just what it says
gets you down the lane and turns left. I drilled mine with the pin below my ring
finger and the cg kicked out. The only problem is if you have carry down it doesn't have the strong backend , in fact sometimes it doesn't move. But if you play a typical house shot that has some backends you will love this ball. It hits like a truck and throwss messengers from both sides. Great ball Columbia
i think i will buy another and drill it different. Price is good to.

while not being impressed with the throttle r, my local pro shop offered me the wired "like it or return it i (he) picks the layout". how can i go wrong? 14# pin 3" in the 12 o'clock position before drill. label drilling cg out 1" pin over ring finger. house shot, wet heads, dry outside 10, clean backends. going to return it. for me, this ball snaps than rolls out hitting the pins like a cotton ball. is it the lay out the driller chose? same reaction as the throttle r but rolls out even sooner. driller bowls on the same team as myself and knows my shot, deep inside, out to 10. he wants to try another layout,i'll see. better luck to others.

I'd have to say it's the layout.
I have had my wired for three weeks and it has three series on it (778,697,715) with one 300, 10 in-a-row and a 290.  This is one of the best Columbia balls that I have thrown in years.  I will say that the cover is very sensitive which will give you a "condition-specific ball".  On a fresh house shot, I can open things up and have as much room out as I can possibly dream of.  As for pull area...it's minimal with fresh backs.  I still give the ball a 9 out of 10.

Side note to Jeff Mop - I believe that the Cuda series was Ceramicore...hence the /C in the name.

I got the Wired ball for Christmas.  I had previously been using the Columbia Messenger.  When I hit the 1-3 pocket I carried my strikes but on non buried balls I was getting little action.  My first time out with the Wired I noticed a big difference.  The ball explodes the pins on light shots when I play outside and when I play inside I'm now kicking out the 4 pin.  The only drawback is that the ball snaps in the pocket a little too much and I'm leaving splits like never before.  But overall I'm happy with the ball.  I normally average in the low 190's and this year I've been in the 180's but since I got the ball I haven't thrown below 585 in my two leagues and last week threw the first nine strikes before leaving the 4-9 split in the tenth for a 264.  I recommend this ball for dry to medium oil conditions and also recommend the light pocket hit.  Great pin action.

Ive hade this ball since christmas and it took me out of my slump.  My league average was a 190 but i hit a slump and it droped dramatically to a 180.  Ever since ive got the ball i have not had a set under 600.  I used normally an icon 300 before i got this ball and I thought it was supposed to hook but compared to the wired it was nothing.  The back end is huge not like anything ive seen before and i can use it on almost every lane condition i encounter.  Out of my last eight tournaments i have used it in 7.  I am getting more strikes but i am leaving a lot more nine pins.  Overall i would say this is a good ball to have in your arsenal.

I have mine drilled 5 inch pin out pin above ring cg 1/8th to the right and I have to say I love this ball it is so aggresive and smooth that it is awsome I have had 5 700s with it and have to say if I would pick up my spares I wouldnt throw under a 220 with it. Last night I threw it sets up earlier than any other polished ball I have ever owned and works percectly for my style I throw 18 miles an hour and have about 380-400 revs on the ball it is a great ball

Wow!!! What a ball this is. I have been averaging 190 or better with a Cuda 2000 for the last 5 years. This year my average has been hovering around 180. I just bought this ball to begin the second half of league play and I am averaging 192 with it so far. I am still trying to figure out the best way to throw it. But even when I don't hit the pocket directly or go brooklyn, I am still getting lots of carry for strikes. I have nothing negative to say about the ball. I would like to say that my teammate has actually beaten me three times during league when he has used my ball.

Got this ball as a blem.  About 3" pin and 2.5-3oz top, cannot remember.  I wanted to try something for a drier sport shot.  Got it drilled pin over the middle finger and slightly to the left, very close to my track (I have a high track).  CG was kicked back to the center of my grip.  This drilling for me results in early roll with very little back end.  The cover on this goes extremely long, so it should work out well.  I wanted a very mild ball.  Well I got what I wanted, a ball that goes very straight with very little backend.  Unfortunately the cover makes the ball go so long it you have to consistent with the speed and release.  After using it on several conditions and occasionally clipping the fingers,  I thought the core may be too strong to use this type of drilling for my high track.  It hit well and carried ok, the problem was getting a consistent reaction.
However, I started to play around with releases and something interesting happened.  On the sport shot, the more you flub the release (weaken or stoke) the better reaction you get.  On a house shot, you want to spin it a little to give it that extra kick in the back to recover.
This ball definitely has it's place for me.  I can usually use this to find a shot, when my normal drill balls cannot.

FYI, based on the what I have seen so far, if you drilled this more normal, say a label stacked, or 10:30-11:30 drill, on a THS, it will go pretty long and snap pretty hard, with the latter drills getting a earlier break point.  You may run into some 10 pins though, if the pattern is longer oil.

COMMENTS

Likes:  I forgot how good this ball was/is.  Due to age and arthristis I decicded to change my grip.  I had put this ball to rest after a big chip/crack.  Decided to have the crack plugged and use the ball to experiment with grips... only needed one change.  Anyway, used the ball to practice before league play...  it brought back memories.  This was first ball out the bag except on heavy oil and dry lanes as others have mention.  If you can play different shots this ball is a wonder.  How many years later and this ball is still crushing the pockets.  It's found a place in my bag again and yes, first ball out the bag.  I've been W~RED again.
