Well back to China again.
« on: October 03, 2007, 01:23:54 AM »
Topic says it all. Recieved some emerald ice WDs.

Box says right on it. Made in China.

This is a new color for the season and it's no surprise. The Columbia Jazz orange has been cancelled or pushed back for an unknown amount of time.

Yes, they're made in China.

Think I saw one of those last night.  Looked like a Philadelphia Eagles ball - not much purple.  Gotta say that I liked the color scheme.

Can't blame them for moving plastic production to China.  They have a lot of balls to produce.  I would imagine profit margins on the reactives are much more than plastic.

Lets hope the Chinese don't catch on to making a reactive ball...It could all be over if that happens!

Yay!  Spare balls with lead-based coverstocks!

I hear they add extra melamine to the filler material to increase the protein content!

I doubt it.  There's no difference between the Blue Dots and the White Dots.  Not even hardness.

I still say there is an additive in the Blue Dots that makes their coefficient of friction less than a White Dot.

the last time we put the Rex to them.  the blue dot did come out harder then the white dots.   i believe 85-87  as to about 83.

And that was with a new BD and new WD?  In the days of yore (really, not that "yore") that was true.  I've seen catalogs from just a few years ago that said that.  It's not true anymore.

Unless, of course, it's the silver coloring and the blue pin that makes the difference.  Changing the pin colors in the Zone Classic and Smoking Inferno made them harder, could be the same for the Blue Dot.

Reason I say that is because the last couple of Ebonite produced Blue Dots I have seen still have the classic Columbia logo on it with "Made In The USA" below it. They did move the blue pin to the bottom of the ball though.
