Big hook ball
« on: January 04, 2008, 08:23:44 AM »
I am going to a tournament in Canada in a month. I like to play outside, but the past few years the shot has been a deep inside swing. I don't have the hand to have the ball recover like many of the other players. The biggest backend I have is a black widow pearl and that will not be enough. I am thinking of the Resurgence, Attitude Shift, SD-73, LevRg and maybe the Cell, but I haven't heard much about the Cell. If anybody has thrown these balls or more than one I would appreciate feedback.

If you are looking for a ball you can play in the oil with, I have a VISIONARY
CENTAUR PARTICLE I always take with me to tournaments.
It is only for the most EXTREME OIL!!
This ball you can use to burn a hole in the shot you are looking for. You will NOT use this for a whole game. When the lanes are set up for a inside shot you can use this ball outside to create a track area for your other equipment.
If your looking for an inexpensive ball for heavy oil, I recommend a HAMMER ANGER. I use this to start league most nights. I have the pin under the bridge in the center with the mass bias at 45 degrees. The cover is roughed up with a green scotch brite pad. This ball is stronger than my FURY, RISING, AND LEVRG.
They are all drilled different but the ANGER is by far the most ball I use consistently. I hope this helps.

The Resurgence loves oil, don't be afraid to give it a shot

the Resurgence is a great ball for playing out side in the oil.If you want something with the big backend recovery for inside shots look into the Track Rising.both balls are hook monsters but like to be played in different parts of the lane.
for me the Resurgence is a great ball when you need to play up the boards but it's not that great when you need to chase the oil deep inside.it is very smooth and easy to control with great carry.
the rising is a great ball if you want to play the inside/out shot.it's very smooth and has insane back end.
(Disclaimer)this is all based on my own personal experience so others might have different opinions.

I'd like to ask a basic question...if the shot is inside, why are you determined to play the oil out?

I want to play inside, but I don't have enough revolutions to get it recover and carry. I last year I went to this tournament I played up 10. I bowled personally bowled great and I was very accurate, but didn't score because the area and carry was inside. There were bowlers who were scoring who didn't hit the broad side of a barn. This will not happen to me again. After talking to my pro shop guy and one of my best friends, I think I will get a Black Widow Bite and a Game Breaker. I haven't definitely made up my mind. I might switch the Game Breaker for a Resurgence.

the resurgence is a great heavy oil ball i can stand on 20-25 throw it out across 12 and it will recover.i also have a bw pearl and it is not even close to the resurgence with the bw pearl i have to throw it straight up 15 and it is sanded to 1500.

The Gamebreaker is a great ball.I would look into the new Roto Grip Cell.I have two with different layouts and surface and they are great! They will cover any condition from medium to heavy.

Lippie, go with the BuzzBOMB. Nothing hooks more in oil and on the backend. This ball will turn the corner for you from the inside, on oil better than any other ball. I would never steer you wrong.

The second best choice is...? =:^D

Many great balls have been described.  Many times a drilling properly done will help an up the backer carry better than ever from inside on a longer pattern.

Often attack angle is needed.

For example I have a Reaction Roll.  Many people consider this a dud ball.

Not for me.

Pin about 3 1/2 to 4 inches pin to cg.  Pin put up strong about 3/4 higher than ring finger(creates a quick response to dry) 4 1/4 inches from PAP.  CG  stacked but about 1/2 inch below the north south line of the grip center.  (stacked maximizes the available flip of the core structure)...weighthole down on a line thru the grip center and cg.

This setup conbined with the surface of the Reaction Roll gives me nearly ever bit of power a bowling ball can provide.  Surface for long oil combined with low rg, flip core for strong attack, combined with pin up for a faster response to friction at the end of the pattern, cg down and a rev up weighthole.

I have even amped this up a bit on a weaker surface Pantera with a weighthole 9 inches from the grip center angled away from the grip center by a 1 inch out pitch!

The only ball stronger than this setup may be a strong Mass Bias ball set up the same way.

I frankly don't need it!  But that is available!
