Yep....this ball is suppossed to be the Wet/dry king!
Along with it's newer first cousin the Uturn particle(virtually the same ball I hear).
Anyway I've had it for awhile and it seems that it is drilled the way it is for some reason I can't remember(I was the driller too!) Pin up and cg up quite a bit also...say over an inch above my grip center under ring.
Well on our severe wet dry shot which includes a short run of 16 feet this ball could not miss the pocket and also could not strike like at all! I would estimate I had 5 strikes out of 50 very flush looking pocket hits!!! This included a lot of practice and a couple of league games. Flat 7 flat 7, flat 7 flat 7 flat 7! Srface changes to make the ball go earlier were tried and were a dud of a solution also!
Always the move looked late, very smooth but too slow to get to the pocket the way it needs in this tricky house. 16 ft short run....almost no oil in midlanes and then some carrydown from the days remnants starting at 40 feet.
So I said this ball has two choices ....complete redrill or (pin down to get the move earlier)....or a weighthole to both make the ball go earlier and to enhance reaction slightly!
The choice....Up even with the cg(an inch above grip center) and a inch past my VAL. Now usually I don't drill weightholes that will take the ball to negative but a local coach and proshop owner(who drills most of his stuff very weak...says...."forget that stuff, if it is not going early enough....add a weighhole!"(much of his stuff is drilled over bridge and has no side weight before weighthole...he just puts em in anyway!).
Anyway...here is the result....this ball is awesome! Earlier slightly now and just a slight extra kick at the back ....the shot was worse than ever yesterday.
Bone dry in the midlanes with almost no push after the 16 foot mark......(we were on lane 1 and could walk down and see this large patch of dry from 16 to 40 feet on the left yuch!).
This ball pushed but was setting up much quicker even with the smallish weighthole 57/64 ...1 inch deep!)
I threw about 2 7 baggers over a 20 frame period....where nothing else could really find the pocket...overreactive!
Might have found the ubber wet dry ball and also added a new way of doing weightholes to enhance reaction!
