the WOW - my vote for ball of the year!!!
« on: June 02, 2003, 01:55:28 AM »
I have good revs and can hook any ball from just about anywhere on the lane, but I prefer to go STRAIGHT down the boards, i.e. up 9, up 11, or up 12.

You can check my profile for the rest of my specs. The WOW has got to be the best ball from Columbia in a long time!

I've heard talk from people that it doesn't hook quiet as much as Columbia says it does on a true 50 Ft flood, and I find that to be true. BUT on anything below that, like Medium/Heavy, it is the greatest control ball!!!

Mine is drilled with the PIN and CG stacked under the ring finger and a big weight hole in the thumbn positive quadrant!

In my opinion, this what power strokers are looking for in a ball! You can rip the cover off and it still has a true controlled arching roll to it!!! I liked it so much that I bought another one drilled differently!

My vote for ball of the year - 2003!!!

Thanks!

No, not at all! It still hooks like it did right out of the box! And it's got about 75 games on it by now.

This ball is a good Medium/Heavy Oil ball. Period. Nothing more, nothing less.

It was never a big hooker to begin with. Not for a TRUE Flood, anyways.

This ball is all about control.

I love it!!!

Mine's drilled similar to Ric's. Drilled for sport shots. It'a a 2" pin, with the pin & CG stacked under the bridge. Very little flare. Small controlled hook with a STRONG HIT. I have a very light coat of polish on the ball, and it's a definite keeper.

Ball looks like doodle around here.

Turned some winning bowlers in to slugs(they keep using it).

Better ball on our longer but must be lighter patterns with the same core.

Is the REV.

We have one bowler in our house useing the Wow with success. This guy is a high rev medium speed player. He has his poished to the max with a mellow drill. He hooks the whole lane with it and carries well. This guy carries with everything though. He thinks it tames over under a bit and he has bowled very well with it at times. For everyone else it is similar to the Roll and Arc. Early roll medium hook and Mushy hit. This is on 40 feet of medium heavy oil with less than crisp backends and
not super dry outside boards. I have been much more impressed with Track's particles and also my Amf Angle Tour on this same shot. All companies strong solid dull reactives also play well. I'm not a columbia fan.

Well, they manufacture them. AMF and Track has there own devlopment team that creates bowling balls and coverstocks. Then they send all materials over to the columbia manufacturing facilities so they can produce it. It saves Mo-Rich, Track, and AMF money. But track will usually use Columbia made coverstocks..

The cores used by columbia differ quite a bit from those used by track and AMF.
The cores do make a BIG difference. I love the nighthawk/Angle evolution core. Name a coumbia core with a low RG and a stong mass bias. I don't think you can.
