From memory I think the OOB surface is 3000 grit Abralon. My friend has the AA and  has no problem using it on a THS. It all depeneds on prefered line, speed and rev rate. Hope this helps

It has a compound finish oob. On a fresh house shot, I have great results playing a down and in shot. Once the lanes break down, I can swing the ball. Probably with a pin under drilling, you can play deeper on a fresh shot. Since mine is drilled with the pin above the fingers, I like to start off throwing up around the first arrow.

I really like this ball. I have mine drilled with pin under the middle finger and CG just right of center of grip and on the mid plane. I needed no weight hole with this drilling. I have used this on several different THS shots and had luck playing multiple angles. Mine is still box finish, just keep it clean with water on a spinner. This was the first time I drilled a ball with a pin in this layout and either it is the drill or the ball but it is very consistent with a nice strong arc off the dry. I would recommend this ball for house shots or even a few that are a bit tougher. Used this in Doubles at the USBC after they opened up a bit and had a good reaction playing around 25 out to 10.
