Action Attack and Big Shot!
« on: January 09, 2007, 12:36:32 PM »
These balls seem pretty close in comparison to me....

                  Action                  Big
                  Attack                  Shot
                  --------------------    ---------------------
Core              Centrifugeâ„¢             Centrifugeâ„¢

Coverstock        M80^2â„¢ Friction Plus    Optimaâ„¢

Sanding Process   3000 Grit Compound      TCSâ„¢ (Texture Energy
                                                Control) 4000

Columbia300 Hook Rating
Overall Hook      60                      60
Hook in Oil       30                      28
Hook in Dry       30                      32

Polish            None                    None

Rg                2.469                   2.476
Diff.             0.054                   0.050

If I was able to purchase an Attack and a Big Shot with same weight, pin placement, same top weight, and then drilled them exactly the same. Then...I sanded the Attack using TCS 4000 Grit, I think these two balls would react the same on the lanes.

I think with the new cover on the Big Shot, you would see the Big Shot be much cleaner in the front saving quite a bit more for the backend than the Attack.

Jon nailed it...the optima cover will be cleaner through the front with more in the backend than the attack

the version of optima on the big shot is solid reactive

The new cover Optima combined with our new finishing process is going to make the NEW Big Shot clear the front's with ease and have a stronger side way's motion down the lane.

If you were to get the exact specs and drill them the same they will not react the same. Optima is much different than M80^2. Hope this helps.

I have to agree...  although the core specs are similar the coverstocks are quite different.  I think this is where the hook rating system is a little mis-leading...

Guys,

The hook ratings that were initially added to the website were incorrect.  The item will be corrected tomorrow.  The total hook should be 58 and not 60 as it states.  This ball is less overall than an Action Attack due to the cover.

I apologize for the mistake.  All the info is correct in the ad which was mailed out to shops a few days ago.

Sorry for the typo,

Chad
