action: heavy oil ball??
« on: October 10, 2006, 01:11:37 PM »
Hi i have an action. But I can't get the reaction from the ball, the way i wanted it. The reaction of my ball seems to be pure roll. When bowling on fresh oil, I could only play on the outside and play straight up and in... I really wanted to uses this ball while playing inside... What do I need to do with my ball?? Currently my pin is under my ring finger and is close to the cg. Based from our pro shop, he told me that the closer the distance between the two, the earlier it would roll... Do you guys have any suggestions?? It would really be appreciated.

sanding it down?? up to what finish?? 800 maybe?? yeah, what I know is that if I sanded it down, it would lose its backend power, am I right?? Right now I have an action packed, a dr. jekyll and a blue dot spare ball... What do I have o do then with my action??

i too find the action really rolly.
what I try and do is get my hand around the side of the ball a bit to give it a touch of push and flip.
it needs some oil up front, but handles carrydown rather well.

Why would you want your Action to be skid/flip? That's when you pull out your Action Packed. The Action was made to have great mid-lane and a smooth rolly reaction throughout the lane, not skid/flip.

It's because I am having problem with my ball. Its currently sanded...And I cant find the right reaction from my ball... I wanted to use it using the inside line... How should it be drilled?? Do I need to redrill it?? Or do I have to polish it?? Whatsthe best finish oif this ball?? given that I have an action packed and a dr. jekyll, which are both polished... Any comments on my arsenal??  ( Action-> action packed-> dr. jekyll-> monster bruiser-> blue dot spare ball) Thank You!

Your pro shop operator is right about the distance between the pin and cg, but the layout gives nothing but roll. You need to have the pin atleast 3 3/4 to
3 7/8 from your PAP to give you some entry angle on the ball and so you can get a little deeper inside.
