« on: February 22, 2006, 10:05:23 AM »
i recently purchased an action packed my bowling center is having a hard time figuring out how to drill it i looked on columbias website and looked up the drilling instructions but the bowling center said it doesnt look right so he called columbia the told him the ball was not going to hook very well being i have a fast ball rate and a slow rev rate i need help to figure out how to get it drilled for the most reaction! also if you have any pics of your drilled balls lets see them

i think that in your situation, id switch balls all together. Go to a regular action. This ball will be better suited for your game. The low rev rate will be helped out by the Low RG, which equals fast revving ball, and your fast speed will make sure the ball dosnt roll out.

if i understand correct you want alotta hook with your fast speed. i posted this in another thread but i have my drilled up pin above bridge cg stacked. it hooks like mad i do have a high rev rate but it would definitally hook ( i dont have pic of my ball but theres description) bowlerkidr might be right, maybe an action might be better but i dont know how i could use an action on THS with the same drilling.

so should i send this ball back and get the regular action?? i want to slow my ball down but cant. it seems like i have it in my head to slow down, but the time it gets to my arm its out of control.when i try to rev the ball my ball speed goes through the roof.instead of letting my finger tips control my rev rate im trying to do it with my swing. Im a new bowler only been bowling for 20 weeks once a week bowler and i only have a 150 average, sucks i know but im slowly improving iv only had 2 200 games a 212 and a 225 in the past two weeks i currently throw a Storm Hot Rod Pro Stock pearl with no luck it just skids on me i need so much help i dont know where to start thanks!!!

If a hot rod pro stock pearl skids the entire lane, then so will the Action Packed. Again i stress that for your high ball speed and low rev rate the best match to your style is the regular Action.

Drill it 4 x 4 dull it too 1000 abralon and slow yourself down slightly it will all be good. Once you get the m80'2 cover to 1000 abralon  with NO POLISH THE BALL IS AS STRONG AS A ACTION IS. Trust me i know since i have owned both of them the action packed will be a sharper backend than the action at 1000 also since the cover is weaker.

Too slow yourself down try too walk by the ball and not carry it with you, if you can do this you will be forced too wait for your swing. Also count your steps and you are looking at your target, this will help you develop a rythem. You will get a better idea of what you are doing and your timing will improve greatly.

The action packed will be weaker upfron than an action but more angular and a bigger backend when it dulled. Also ask your driller for a slightly relaxed fingetip drilling Bill Hall has taughtme you get more revs and better control with as he says Knuckle Up grips. It will somewhat is known as the claw grip varation not the same but closer too it. You want your knuckles to be off the ball about 3/4 of inch, try it and be amazed by how your ball will hook more and recover better on poorly thrown shots.

Action Packed has no mass bias.. its a symetrical ball.. not an assemetrical

Anyways drill it stacked leverage

I've thrown the Action Packed with it's factory finish, and I would DEFINATELY sand it down.  Mine is drilled stacked leverage, and with the factory polish on it, it got down the lane and snapped hard on a really light oil pattern, and I loved it.  However, I don't bowl on light oil very often, so i took a green scotch brite pad to it.  Not only does it look like a totally different ball, it reacts better too.  For me anyways.

It seems to hook earlier, but then just stops and really whacks the rack. Reminds me of my old Super Carbide Bomb.

The ONE is assemtric... sorry try again..

and to make a comment on this post... if any pro shop ever had a problem drilling a simple symetric core like a Action Packed I would go somewhere else,, because they are obviously gonna screw it up.
