I bowl in 2 very different houses. One, very much a medium oil pattern and occasionally the heads become fried. Two, always a heavy oil shot.
I drill all of my stuff aggressively, 3 3/8 or stacked, I'll change to balls with a diferent coverstock to adjust to the lane conditions. I would probably be considered a power stroker. I prefer to play a down and in shot but I've got slightly above average revs (and throw 16-18 mph) and will move left and cross more boards when necessary.
The equipment: EPX, Trifecta, Hybrid Dirty Bomb, Fired Up and White Dot.
House #1. Hybrid is the answer here with the Fired Up seeing duty when I need a little more length. This is the house where I had the EPX drilled so I tried it here first but was not expecting much on these conditions. And it didn't give me much, it was rolling out, had no steam left for the backend. Pretty much what I expected.
House #2. Threw the Trifecta first to get a read. Heavy oil. Trifecta not wiggling much at all, 2-3 boards maybe. This is not unusual for this house. My Big Bully wouldn't hook 2 boards in the house, it's the only place I could ever use my Super Carbide Bomb. Let's try the EPX. Nice, strong arcing shot. I had no problem playing 15-5 in the soup. Now this is what this ball was designed for!!
This ball is as strong, and probably slightly stronger, than my SCB. But it is condition specific. This ball is made for HEAVY oil, using it on anything less makes no sense whatsoever.
