any Bedlam comments?
« on: November 29, 2009, 02:47:12 AM »
After some rave reviews in September, seems to have completely disappeared off the radar.

Is it a dud, or does it just appeal to a relatively small market segment?

Just threw this ball at a demo day today and it had a 10 pin issue. Just could not get the angle right for how strong the ball was drilled. It reminds me of the Wrath Dead Flush with some extra hook potential.

I tried the Bedlam at a Demo Day and purchased one the same day.  Mine is drilled pin 5" from axis, 2" pin buffer, MB 4-1/2" from axis, no weight hole, box finish.  Great ball for when the shot opens up, and you need something angular.  I have about 15 games on the ball now, and it is very angular and very continuous on the back end.

i heard it can be squirty if there is oil down lane at the BP. so i could imagine with all the friction on a house shot it would be a beast.

I've had one for a couple of months now.  It's drilled with the pin about an inch above the ring finger and 4 1/2" from the pap.  The MB is about an inch to the right of the thumb and there is a weight hole close to the pap.

For me, this is a great ball as long as the pattern is not too long and there is not a lot of oil in the heads.  I threw it along with my Messenger Ti pearl (black and gold) and found it to handle a little more oil and have a much stronger back-end.  In my bag, it fits just below my Arch Rival.

Hope this helps.

Used my dads Bedlam for a while. Don't remember the drilling, but man I loved that ball, I didn't have the money to buy one when he sold it. The ball corners from anywhere, and carries the world. I was amazed at how deep I could play and still kick the corner out. I was very surprised for this to be a columbia ball.

Thanks. Reason I asked is that I found it to be a little too over/under for the house for where I originally intended it to be used.

Operator error certainly a factor, but pattern for me was good 1st game, then would become very unpredictable as lanes were transitioning, then when they started drying out more, it was great again. But more often than not, I seemed to either stick with it too long, or bring it out too early.

Have decided to try it at the other house I bowl at, where the backends suck. Over there, I think it might match up better. Current house has strong backends without the Bedlam's angularity, so probably a case of overkill.

Just mentioning that so far, the Bedlam IS matching up much better at the other house. There, the backends are [in my opinion] extremely deficient, and  the Bedlam changes that. At least so far.

Tonight I stuck with it all 3 games and was the first time I had 3 reasanably strong games at that house all year.  Will see what happens next week.

Out of the box sometimes the Bedlam could be a hair to shinny for the fresh league conditions that are a little tighter. However after about 5 games when some of the newness goes away this ball is a beast. You should not have any problems with the O/U....

So far, it's turning into a miracle ball for me at the house I normally struggle at.   So many balls I have bought in the past few years, with the express intention of battling the lanes at that house, and all of them failures, at least on those lanes.

This one---the bedlam--- was NOT intended for use at that bowling alley. It was not supposed to be a correction or the answer to anything. Just another ball to play with on the lanes where I normally bowl decently anyway. And ironically, my Bedlam is a perfect match for the oil pattern where it is now.

I have bowled 6 straight solid games with it in a row this week (Wednesday and Saturday combined). For THAT house... from me.... that is remarkable.

Ball glides over the [too dry] front of the lane and manages to gain some traction on the [too oily] backend, and I finally have a ball with a predictable movement/breakpoint I can rely on and ....TRUST.

Also my first Columbia Ball since my Chaos's. I don't know exactly why I stayed away, but glad I went back for my Bedlam.

Ball is awesome, still going strong with no problems with it. Clean it after use and keep it box finish by my shop guy once every 15 games or so = MONEY

By the way that Pure Swing looks sick also!!
