So many balls for dry lanes??? Help!

ok, I'm looking for a good ball for when the heads start to get a little toasty with spotty carrydown.  I've seen all sorts of balls that seem to be similar from the stats like Fear, Super Trooper, Jekyll, Panic, etc.  Anyone have any suggestions?  p.s. I'm a righty-tweener...I'm comfortable covering some boards but don't need to hit every board on the lane...

Currently my polished Super Power is the first ball out of the bag with a Bully for heavy stuff...

Describe what you mean by dry:
- what ball are you using, when it gets dry,
- how's it drilled,
- was the surface changed,
- how does it react,
- how deep do you play,
- how do you throw it (revs, ball speed, tilt, etc)

You may only need a medium-light to light oil handling pearl resin, like the Jekyl, OR something milder like a Scout or very mild like a pearlized urethane (Trooper). The answers to the above questions will help determine what you need.

Right now, I'm using a heavily-polished extreme chaos with an aggressive drilling (3 3/8 x 3 3/8), but that's only because I haven't needed to use it much in the past.  It was a ball that I once bought as an oil ball but it didn't work out very well so I polished it and have used it as a ball for drier lanes.  I've actually needed to go to that ball more often recently and I know I'm not using it for what it was designed for.  It really doesn't work well on dry lanes but it's better than anything else I have.  I just never felt the need to buy a new ball that I didn't think I'd use very often.  I should have something reactive with a better drilling (closer to 5")

I'm usually between 10 & 15 at the arrows playing out to about 7 (that's my comfort zone)  Avg speed, revs.

So do you want something weaker then the chaos? I mean, its not MEANT for heavy oil so that would explain it not working? Its a medium-light oil ball.

The extreme Chaos in its prime was meant for medium heavy oil.  only ball made by columbia that would hook more than it was the original Chaos, at least until the Complete came out.  and if I were you I would probably try something like a Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle if they are really toasty, if not then i'd try something more like a super trooper, just dont drill it too aggressive.  personally ive found a ball that works well for me is an old Black Hammer polished up to around 1500-2000.  gets thru the heads but still rolls into the pocket.  shot 670 last night at a house where the highest average is 202 and they are known for having dry/spotty lanes.  Just my 2 cents.
