my Momentum Swing
« on: September 10, 2008, 04:44:01 AM »
Greetings

Well, I picked up my Momentum Swing yesterday after work and threw it on my Tuesday night league(THS shot) and all I can say is WOW! this ball is a beast.

For once my house actually put out a lot of oil as when my ball returned it had several oil rings on it which is kinda unusal for my house but I had to put it away early in the second game as the lane went into transition

and it was starting to come in very, very hard so I switched over to my Storm Rapid solid (highly polished) and just finished the night with that puppy.

Tonight when I get home from work I'll put my new ball on the spinner and bring her up to 4K abralon and add some snake oil (polish) so I can try it out on tonights Wednesday league...stay tuned.

Btw, if this ball is less agrressive then the Resurgence then the Resurgence  ball must be just sick

It is all about oil and ball motion.  Resurgence is more arcing where the Swing is more angular.  The Resurgence will handle heavier oil better than the Swing.  I would like to see both thrown together on the same pattern to see a better comparison before I say which is more aggressive.

Great video on Columbia300.com.  Shows Resurgence, Momentum Swing, Momentum all drilled the same.

Looked like a 3 and 2 move to the right each ball....in the order above.
2008 fall lineup.

Hope that helps.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS that Reurgence is an animal and pretty angular itself!

The Momentum Swing is an awesome ball.  The ball fits great between the Momentum and the Resurgence.  The Resurgence is the strongest of the series, so far.  The Momentum Swing is the ball of choice for most typical house shots around.

Where does the Noize fit?

For me, the Noize was between my Swing and Momentum.  It had the smooth motion of the Resurgence, just with a slightly lesser hook potential.

Thanks Tim, that was my assumption, and also that the Arch Rival and Rival are weaker. than all four.

From what I have seen I would put the Arch Rival above the Momentum as well

Correct, The Arch Rival is close to the Noize in terms of hook Potential, but it is more in the back of the lane.  The Rival is close to the Momentum, but can handle slightly more oil due to the lack of shine.

Tim how close would you put the Noize and Arch Rival.  reason I ask is I have a Noize and love it, I was thinkin gof the Arch Rival for something that would just be a different look.

Hi Guys

Well, I'm started to get used to my new Momentum Swing so we will see tomorrow nite in league, I found for me to use this ball the way I have it, I must stay behind the ball through the whole forward swing and send it out...way out

Good grief this ball is sick! so I practiced yesterday with it and I was finally getting the hang of it as I was controlling it instead of the other way around

Usually I will get control of a ball real quick and it would be on-like-donkey-kong!! but this ball with the conditions at my house was pretty difficult to build up some confidence so I'm glad I practiced yesterday with it.

The ball is just simply amazing as I was getting lined up people would come over and watch as I threw it out and it just would turn in and come roaring back to the pocket but we will see how it goes tomorrow nite for the real determining factor.

I rate this ball way up there on the fun factor scale right along with my STORM Rapid Fire Solid, I find these two balls are just plain fun to throw, however,
I can miss a little right or left with the Rapid Fire Solid but if I miss a little bit to much one way or the other with the Momentum Swing then its usaully see-ya!! wouldnt want to be Ya!!!

I report back in tomorrow or Wednesday and tell how I did,

Later All,
          Jake

The Arch Rival is about 2-3 more than the Noize (for me, at least).  When throwing both, you would have to use a breakpoint a little further towards the gutter with the Arch Rival, since it hooks so much more in the back.

i just drilled a momentum and will throw it this week: 5" pin up, 75*. going to take it to 2000 and polish it.

also have a noize and am going to drill it : 4 1/2" pin up, 45*, and keep it at 1000-2000 dull. figured when the noize starts buring up a bit, i can take the momentum and move in.

also looking at a swing: 4 1/2" pin up, 70*, and keep it at 2000.

I threw my Momentum Swing again last nite and I did fairly well with it. The first game I wasnt warmed up at all and I was using the wrong line as I left 5 pocket crushing 10 pins in the first 6 frames

and didn't pick up one of them as I was so frustrated with corners pins (due to same corner pin action last nite) so I move left 6 boards and swung it out and went sheet to end my nitemare for a lousy 187 (it was painful)

But then shot a nice 268 (won the side pot) and a descent small deuce to end up with a nice little series. The 3rd game the oil was really going fast since it was getting real hot on the lanes and I was already moving waaaay left but I wanted to see what it would do.

I am really pumped up over this ball, its a freaking monster. I like this ball so much that I am thinking about getting another one but I cant really justify it...but knowing me I probably will

Peace
