Ball to replace Oath
« on: October 08, 2014, 09:22:59 AM »
I love the reaction and pin carry I get using my Oath. Ball is getting a little long in the tooth so I would like to replace with a similar ball. On my THS a solid ball seems to carry better than a pearl or a hybrid. Looking for another solid in the lines of the oath.  I throw a lot of Storm and was thinking IQ Tour Solid or Hyroad Solid. I would also consider getting another Columbia ball but wasn't sure what they have out now that comes close to the Oath ball movement. The Oath had a" bend it solid" cover stock which really hit hard and doesn't over react off the spot. Thanks for your help.

The IQ tour would be smoother and the Hyroad Solid would be longer, but both would give you a benchmark type of reaction I would imagine with the right drilling. You could always go with a Gamebreaker 2 as well.

FYI I have an oath with less than 10 games I want to sell, if you wanted the same ball for cheap!

I might take you up on that if I do not find a good replacement for Oath.

The Disorder.  Same core I believe with a hybrid cover of the Oath and Vow.  I have the ball and it is a great piece.  If you had success with the Oath, then the Disorder is the ball to replace it.

Actually it is the Resurgence core with a hybrid version of the Bend It coverstock.  But still a fantastic ball and good replacement for the Oath.

I agree with Twohand, the Disorder is very similar to the Oath for me, especially if you keep the surface the same between the two of them.  Fantastic ball for the money!

Great info guys.  I appreciate it. Tough not to get the IQ Tour Solid. Nobody has anything but great things to say about this ball. I already have the fusion and IQTP so it should fit in my arsenal . Solids seem to carry so much better at the house I bowl. Start with the IQ Tour Solid and work my way down through the night.

Disorder is a very under rated piece, great ball, 1 of the top pieces in the EBI lineup IMO
GB2 is also a great piece, but earlier and a bit stronger motion

Anybody thrown the Throw Down by Columbia??  Looks like a solid with similar specs to my Oath. Between the Disorder or Throw down to replace Oath.

I would also say the disorder. It's a ball that never got the attention it deserved. Great value for the price point.

throw door has an asymmetric core, so its different from oath in that respect.
And it looks like its a bit longer than the Oath

While the disorder is supposed to be a replacement for the Outburst (I think)
i also had the Oath and i do really like the way the disorder rolls, surface is very tuneable.
i put the pin in my middle finger giving it a 5" pin-pap.
right now i have it at 1000+polish for the medium pattern we are currently on and its still a bit longer than i want, but its more my 2nd or 3rd out of the bag
GB2 is 1st, EP hybrid is 2nd and then Disorder.

How do you like your game breaker 2 and how do you have it drilled??  Looks like a great ball from Ebonite. Looking for a solid ball that lets me get a good read on what the lanes are doing. I also have a fusion and and hyroad pearl. Looking for something to give me more than my fusion to start the night out.

Actually, same layout as my disorder,
left it OBB surface for now, it needs some head oil as its pretty strong
i have approx 150 games on it and no surface failure (the knock on the OG gamebreaker)
i have touched up the surface on the spinner a few times.
im looking for something stronger downlane at the moment and im between another GB2 and the Bad Ass

Actually the Throw Down isn't a true asymmetrical core, cause it's only 0.004 mb strength and any ball that's 0.009 or lower doesn't have to be marked per USBC. Once you drill a symmetrical ball you'll have that much. The my isn't marked on the Throw Down and it's real close to the Oath. I've had both the Disorder and Oath with the Oath being much stronger. The Oath has a 54 hook rating per Bowling This Month hook rating chart with the Throw Down being 53 and Disorder being 52. If you want to see the chart look on page 2 of the Columbia forum at the top, it's titled Hook Rating. Just my .02, Bruce
