Brunswick is a different company entirely. I'm not certain but I don't think they have a Tour staffer who makes $125K a year for 8 years.
Columbia has had company-wide layoffs, from management to reps to staffers. I only hope it's a step in the right direction. I was lucky enough to stay on staff, mostly because I own a Pro Shop.
It's a fact that most Amateur/Regional staffers are either Pro Shop owners, work in a Pro Shop (BrunsNick), or are closely associated with a Pro Shop.
It's logical that all of the ball companies align themselves with people who are in a position to sell their equipment.
As far as Barnes goes, good for him. There's only 2 bowlers in the world besides him that could garner that kind of money. TJ and WRWJR will eventually get that kind of money one way or another. It makes good business sense to have a contract so he's guaranteed some kind of income regardless of his success.
