got to demo the full swing
« on: July 30, 2009, 02:19:24 AM »
I attended a demo day for ebonite down at Deptford Lanes in NJ yesterday and got to test out some columbia equipment while I was there.  I got to throw the Full Swing and wanted to post up some comments on the ball.

I originally thought it was going to be a strong angular ball but very early.  What I got was something a little different but twice as fun to throw!

The Full Swing for me was long and crazy angular.  The read off the dry was very strong and if you got it out early it would tend to check up and come through the nose.  The surface of the ball gave it some great recovery.  It didn't slide if I moved in it would just go longer and snap harder.  I was able to create some really wild and fun angles with this ball and really enjoyed throwing it.

It's rare to see a ball with so much surface that maintains angularity.  IMO this is a ball everyone should have because when your heaviest oil ball won't cut it this ball will just give you angle from everywhere on almost any condition.

I don't think it's a benchmark ball for a lot of the sport shots because it doesn't soak up oil or create area.  But it certainly allows you to play angles you've never seen before which will give you an advantage during those transitions!

Until you use that ball on various sport shots and for more than just a demo day and see for yourself, that is an incorrect statement. This ball with 2 differnet layouts compared to a Jigsaw with the same 2 layouts, out hooked it in both the mid's and backend on shark and chameleon as well as a house shot.

What has impressed me so far is how strong the ball is in the midlane and backend while still being very very clean in the heads.

well I compared it with my virtual gravity and virtual energy and I was able to move pretty far in with the VG and the full swing didn't have the guts to make it back.  After about 4 shots with the VG an area was created and the full swing was able to handle that same track.  I base my opinion on what I saw the different equipment do.  It didn't skate in the oil but also didn't dance in like the VG did either.

As for comparing it to the Jigsaw, I didn't throw the jigsaw myself but my friend threw that and the full swing and the full swing was easily stronger than the Jigsaw.  I was unimpressed with the Hammer equipment overall so i would agree with your comparison of the FS to the Jigsaw.

I'd be willing to bet though on fresh shots of longer heavier oil you'll see more movement and recovery from a virtual gravity or Bounty Hunter than you would with the Full swing.  But after 4 frames or so and there's a track, I bet it'd be great.  My 2 cents from what I saw, take it for what it's  worth.

Haven't seen the Full Swing yet other than a few videos. Is it actually a solid black?
