Best Columbia 300 heavy oil ball?
« on: May 09, 2009, 11:06:29 AM »
I'm joining a PBA experience league this summer, and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

I am coming to love my Rival more than any ball in the bag.  It's predictability and the uncanny way it makes it back to the pocket no matter how far I throw it out...

Anyway, I'm excited to use my new Lane #1 Agent Orange on the fresh oil patterns and bust out the Rival when the lanes start to break down.  I've yet to use the Agent Orange, and I'm thinking about subbing a C300 ball for it.  Given my love of the Rival, what C300 ball would be a step up from the Rival for the first game?

Thanks

I thought the AO was meant for oil? And if you already have it, and you haven't used it yet, why would you get something else?

Ditto here.
The AO with its stock surface is definitely for heavier oil patterns. Many good opinions of it so far. Not very many negative ones.

I'd suggest getting a good drill on it before even thinking of getting a replacement.

Good points everybody.  The AO is a heavy oil ball and I expect it will have the great carry that I've seen from Lane #1.

The truth is, I'm just a ball junkie!!!  Would love to pick up a C300 ball in addition to the AO, even though I don't need it

I would have agree with the Resurgence, but the Noize shares the same cover just a little weaker core.

If you can find one, resurgence...it thrives in the slick stuff.

For me, with the same layout, my Rival at 2000 abralon started up sooner than my Resurgence at 1000. Resurgence for me was longer and stronger on the backend. Rival was earlier and smoother.

Depends on your revrate cause for me I love my arch rival in the heavy oil spot.  It is drilled pin down under the ring.  At 4000 ab it is the strongest ball I have.  It hooks sooner and is just as continuos as my hyroad.  My revrate is 390

Resurgence is without a doubt a winner on heavy oil.

Since you already have the Agent Orange, I'd suggest you go with the Noize.  Despite what the other fellers say about the Noise being a lot weaker than the Resurgence, it really isn't.  As you probably know, at least 80% of a ball's reaction is attributable to its coverstock.  As the Noize has the same coverstock as the Resurgence, it's going to handle oil also.

I think you'll find that the Noise will be a nice option when your Agent Orange is starting to burn up, as you'll be able to move out and play a little more down and in with the Noize.

The Noize is also cheaper than the Resurgence.

Having both i have to say that the biggest difference is ball motion.  Noize for me is more Skip Flip where the Resurgence is more Hard Arcing.

If you can not find a Resurgence try a Momentum Swing. cover adjustment friendly...9
