Need help with Action MaX..
« on: October 27, 2006, 11:33:38 AM »
Hey everyone,

I've been thinking about buying this ball for quite some time now, and now that i have enough money, i might just pull the trigger.

I wanted this to be my HEAVY OIL ball. Right now i have a Hammer Switch Blade for MEDIUM and Track Desert Heat for LIGHT/DRY.

I know the MaX will definetly fit over the Switch Blade, but is it a good HEAVY OIL ball? What kind of a strong layout could i put on this ball with my specs? PAP = 5 OVER  1/4 UP

I don't really have a preference of the reaction i get out of it, as long as it will be good for a normal HEAVY OIL shot.

Thanks

uhh, yea right, lol

But anyways, so i would need to drill this strong, and adjust the surface? So maybe i can play a slight down and in shot, and if that's so, then it's fine with me, lol

If you need a C300 product for floods, I'd try a Power Driver Sanded before an Action Max.  I've got a Max and wouldn't consider this an "oiler" unless you've got a little softer ball speed or some squeaky fresh backends to help the coverstock recover from the front portion of the lane.  The Power Drive Sanded will afford you a stronger ball reaction in floods than an Action max and leave a couple of extra dollars in your pockets for pot games and brackets.

thanks for the help 230, but if i use the MAX on a normal heavy oil shot with clean backends, and not a flood, then will it be alright?

IMHO, yes.

The Max is a ball for heavier conditions, but, I think the Vaccine coverstock on the Power Drive Sanded might be a little better suited for floods.

Features Mallet core with extension arms featuring a top flip block. Dense core body - featuring dense energy flip blocks.
Benefits
The Mallet core, which debuted in the Bully line of high performance balls has been tweaked to provide a slightly lower RG than the version used in the Power Drive and will create the strongest mid-lane motion in the Drive price point.  Core body concentrates the weight near the center core giving you faster revving action. The flip-blocks add flare potential for more overall hook.
CoverStock Power Drive Sanded Action Max
Features
 Vaccine Particle M80^2â„¢ Friction Plus
Benefits

According to C300's ball comparison feature on their website, it seems to contradict what I've stated.  I guess you'll have to get someone that has thrown both of the balls, back to back, to get the whole truth.
