Man, let me tell ya''ll something about this flipping bowling ball called the RAN$OM. I...absolutely LOVE IT!!! Tonight, I shot a 712 series: 236, 244 and a 232. I started standing on 25 and finished on 32, I started playing over 10 and finished at 14 at the arrows, and the break stay consistently between boards 6-9. The ball is drilled pin down it goes really long and snaps really hard on the back end. Another great piece of equipment created by Columbia.

My Ransom is very very good. This ball is long and strong. It reminds me of Bedlam on steroids. 267 out of the box. It's about 3 or 4 feet longer than my Burst (4K abralon) and still covers as many boards.

Have seen a World Beater go, and it is hook in a box!

My Ransom reminds me of my Super Tropper. I love this ball, gets through the fronts very clean with a nice smooth reaction on the back end. I have mind drilled with the pin up and just to the right of the ring finger

I'm just chiming back in on my post! My ransom is officially my bench mark ball and might I also add; I have not thrown a series below 650 with this ball yet and I don't plan on it...lol. I absolutely love this ball without a doubt, and by far it is my favorite and the most versatile ball in my bag. It can be use on medium heavy oil lanes for a strong backend reaction to medium oil lanes easily for a smoother backend reaction. Yesterday, I made this ball literally pop off the three board for my break point accidentally because I push the ball too hard, and it came back screaming off the spot to the pocket to strike!

Just about everybody I've seen with this ball including myself have this ball drilled pin down and the MB kicked out from the thumb;my pin is closer to my middle finger but almost center with the bridge. The ball is design to be a skid/flip bowling ball, i.e. it is a super tilt pearl bowling ball. Hand position and how you hit the ball will dictate how this ball will roll on the lane, whether it snaps hard or if you stay behind the ball for a more smoother reaction. The Ransom is the strongest pearl bowling ball put out by Columbia 300 to date. I would say drill the ball for what it was designed to do and don't try to tame the beast...lol. i drilled mine 5" x 4", or if you use the dual angle: 50* x 5" x 40*(pin up above bridge). the ball is really clean down lane and makes a nice strong move off the spot. i went 500 / 2k and a light amount of factory finish. the ball rolls great. have used it in league patterns, as well as some longer tourney patters, and does not disappoint. it is a nice compliment to my Taboo, that is drilled the same way. May try 500 / 1k, w/ light polish to have it possibly read just a little sooner. there are days where it pushes a little long and so the carry goes down. really love this ball though!!

Definitely thinking a pin down drill will work better on this one. I think the ball might be a little too skid / flippy drilled pin up at the OOB finish. You could probably drill one pin up if you take the polish off.

The Ransom is definitely more angular down the lane than the original Bedlam. From what I've noticed, the Ransom covers about 2 - 3 more boards than the Bedlam. Definitely a good piece to have in the bag.

I bowled a 5 game sweeper on 2/5 and used the Ran$om four out of 5 games. I finished second. I have it layed out with the pin in the ring finger (drilled out) with the mass 1/2 inch from my VAL line with an extra hole 5 inches over on my mid line. This is by far is my favorite drilling and have used it on many of the balls in the Columbia line.

hey guys just wanted to say thanks for all the help in guiding me how to drill the ran$om and y'all were right this is a great ball love the reaction drilled it pin next to my finger mb kicked out and it rolls great! this and the pure physics i am ready for any shot they throw at me thanks again!!
