Blue Piranha/c?
« on: May 08, 2008, 01:46:28 AM »
When this ball was released it was marketed as a medium-heavy oil ball. Would it still be considered that today? Also does anyone remember what the oob surface for the blue piranha/c and the jade piranha/c are? Thanks.

Pretty sure it was sanded out of the box but can't recall what grit they used back then. For the time it wasn't a bad oiler but compared to today's sponges it's mild.

The blue was definitely dull, not sure to what grit (since back then grit surface was not in play). The green was the pearlized version of the blue. Had them both way, way back in the days.  It would be mild in today's standards.  I assume it would be great for dry condition with a better hit then plastic.

If I remember seeing them correctly, the blue one would probably be about 1000 to 1500 grit, and the green one was a highly shined pearl.  Both were great back in the day, and if properly maintained, could be a part of a lineup even today on med-light or broken down conditions.

I bought piranha/c solid when it was released.  It was more of a fresh medium oil ball even back then.  For me it had a VERY skid snap type of reaction.  But the ball was definately weaker than some other I balls I threw around the same time period.
