Bully M80 cover question...
« on: March 06, 2005, 01:51:52 AM »
Hey everyone.  My proshop has a couple of the original bully's that they can't seem to move, so I thought I might help them out by buying one .  I went to the reviews section and read that for the last three posters, the cover had "died" after the 40 - 60 game range.  One said he/she was trying to throw it on dry (i.e. ball was probably burning up) and the other two just said the backend died (maybe from oil absorption and/or surface grit change?)...  Of course you would expect to see some changes in the reaction.. especially without any sort of cleaning / cover maintenance...
But my question is, has anyone truly experienced a significant decrease in reaction with the Bully around the 40-60 game range while using proper cleaning & maintenance techniques?

Thanks,
S^2

I had just ordered this ball when these three reviews came out.  It was too late to cancel as the ball was being drilled. Naturally I was very concerned.

Talking to my proshop owner, he says he has a Bully with about 100 games on it and, while it has lost some of its hook, which is typical, it still has a strong reaction.  He did say that the ball should be cleaned after each league session and to keep some surface on the ball after each 15 or 20 games.  He uses a gray scotch pad and just lighly (not hard) goes over the surface.  This, of course applies if you want to keep the ball in box condition.

Also, if you'll check my post earlier this month, someone replied that they too had over 100 games on their Bully and it had not lost any of its hook.

I've only thrown the ball one game to test out the fit and I am really impressed.  It has a strong but controllable movement and hits hard.

Like any of the newer equipment, I think maintenance is the key.

Hopes this helps.
