columbia releasing too many mid performance?
« on: June 07, 2006, 12:00:53 PM »
i think they are releasing too many basic performance. especially when they dont do much.

i think they should step up their game and make some more high performance - its too easy to make basic performance. especially when they all differ me .01 . looks kind of cheasy to me

The Hijinx and Jinx are mid-performance, but the Wraths are more towards high performance, sorta between mid and high. Kind of like the Zone series with Brunswick.

You are correct. The wrath and the wrath XP are great additions to the columbia line. They are just a tad under action and action packed.

I cant wait to see how the Wraths roll with that proven Ti Boss II core.  If they are anything like the Bosses, they are going to be GREAT!!!

it the retail world,  mid price balls is where it's at,
that is why i believe columbia, much like the other companies are offering so many new models.

and all of the mid priced balls from columbia in the past year have sold well,
i believe the jinx and the hi jinx are replacing the u-turns   good move,
lot of confusion on the u-turn's  many thought they were hook monster's,  but they were not,  more control backend balls.  so the name change is a good thing.

if more companies would follow brunswick and let their high performance balls
last for more than a month or so, i believe they would actually increase their sales,  the more people that saw the ultimate inferno it it's extremely long shelf time, bought it.  it was still selling strong right up to the intro of the scorchin inferno.   unlike track which seems to bring a ball out every day.
and by the end of the week,  they are old and something new is coming out.

sometimes when we sell a track ball,  it is allready dated by the time the customer leaves the shop. it seems that track does not trust their balls to let them stay on the market for a certain period of time,  with track,  new seems to be the word of the day. i would say that we probably had 10 new track balls to the ultimate inferno.  and the ultimate was a huge seller!!!!!
now they have the machine, strike machine, mean machine, etc etc etc,
still brunswick just has the scorchin inferno.  even columbia has done a good job with the action line,  they are still there!!!!!

Mid performance balls are a huge key to our product line.  Afterall we have to do something with all those cores? LOL...anyways this year Columbia is only going to launch a select number of balls.  What we are trying to do is get more longevity out of our lines.  The Jinx/HyJinx and Wrath/Wrathxp are going to be around for 2-3 seasons.

If you liked the Ti Boss II, you'll love the reactions with Wrath and Wrathxp!

Thanks for the continued business.

Mid-priced balls are great sellers in my shop.  Many bowlers
in our mixed leagues want something with which they can be
competitive, but they don't want to pay a premium price.  I've
sold just as many mid-priced Ebonite and Columbia balls as I
have their top-line products.  I would much rather sell a client
on the idea of a mid-priced, excellent performance ball, than to
explain the idea of Bonanza balls, X-outs and blems.

it's great to hear that columbia plans to keep a ball around for more than a day or two,  would be nice if track followed suit.

bringing out balls like the machine, and last years exception 5.0 an hour or two before the season ends makes no sense.

tho both balls are good,  most bowlers are playing golf in the summer, not everyone bowls year round.  and by the time the season comes around,  these last minute balls are old,

bowlers are trained to think that the lastest released ball is the best,  and anything that came out yesterday is old.  some of these balls never get a chance to be seen in league play, if your looking to buy a machine in sept.
you are probably going to buy the machine that just came out,  not the old last year's model that came out in the 10th frame of week 35 of the season!!!!!
