Anyone polished an original Action?
« on: January 10, 2007, 05:07:50 AM »
My Action hooks as soon as I set it down on the lane.  Has anyone had any positive experiences polishing this baby up?

you can also try using a higher abralon pad.  maybe 2000 or go to 4000.

I have had the action both ways and for me the 2000 abralon finish worked better, just try it and see what is your best option. Use gritless polish with less slip agents unless you have alot of tilt and revs, of course i bowl on synthetics so if on wood you might need the slip agents in the polish.

Never did like mine factory finished.  It rolled off my hand and really didn't hook all that much.  I thought it was just burning up too quickly until I bowled on some wet and it still didn't make that big a move.  However, now that it is polished, it gives me that controllable roll that's very good for wet/dry conditions.  I'm able to play pretty direct and still get good hit.  Try the polish.

whats the point in having an action for medium??
Its a heavy ball meant to hook out of your hand.  Its RG is low, its cover strong.  Maybe wait until you find the right pattern for it?? Like 40'+ sport or floods.

I almost exclusively went with three different Action balls for the THS I bowl on, below is what I have found to be accurate:

Hitting the Action with 2000 Abralon will give the ball additional length and a little snappier backend reaction.

Polishing the Action over the OOB finish will add length, but the backend reaction will be a little stronger and at times a little more inconsistent than that of a Abralon finish (carrydown)

hi guys!! noticed that a lot of you guys have success using the original action polished... my question would be this... whats your layout?? did you drilled it aggressively?? aggressively?? before putting polish on it?? coz, I was also having problems with mine at oob finish..
