Title: Columbia 300 APOGEE

Ball Weight 15.2
Top Weight  3 1/2
3-3.5 inch pin

Ball is drilled for righty. Pin below ring. Mass Bias is inch off thumb.
This is not the most aggressive drill, but this ball has an unbelievable back end. I havent been able to try it on different shots, but the ball kept coming. I must say this is one of the most aggressive columbia balls I have had. I have a couple of pictures and I'm working on a video for you guys. I'm going to post the pics tonight.

Tell you the truth the way he told us isnt to much info on how it is drilled. Only thing you can tell is the pin is below the ring finger. This doesnt tell how much below it is. Also the mb being inch off thumb is also very general. For all we know it could be an inch left of the thumb or below the thumb. The stuff we kneed to know is the distance between the pin and mb to the PAP.  Also in ration to where the mb is to the thumb. If it is set and inch away from the thumb at the 5 oclock position or what. Not nagging on you dbum just saying the info you gave was kinda general, and we need a little more info on how it is drilled.

I received my Apogee on Monday afternoon. After looking over the very basic drilling instructions that Columbia sends with their asymmetric releases, I decided to go with a 5 (pin) x 4 (mb) layout. This put the pin right above my ring finger (drilled some of the pin out) and the MB about 1" right of my thumb.

Initial reaction to the color and look of the ball is that the ball is dark enough for my liking but the labels were a bit too bright. I took a black ink pen to the bright orange label to diminish some of the color. This left me with just a nice white pin to look at going down the lane.

 Anyone else used to do this to a ball? Color in the label black leaving only the pin as a reference point on the ball as it goes down the lane. I get tired of seeing 3 or 4 huge labels on a ball, makes it hard to see how it's rolling, just a huge blurr of labels....

Anyway, the first chance I got to use the ball was on a PBA type shot Regional Pattern #2. This is the shortest of all the patterns so I had to get the ball going right(outside of 5) or it would just hook too much. When I did get it going right it would just stand up and go continuously left, but in a strong arcing type motion not too snappy. This is mostly because I chose the MB placement for a strong smooth reaction and not maximum hook.

I really think this ball will find a place in my bag quite often. I enjoyed its look and its ability to clear the heads flawlessly while revving in the midlane and making its continuous move on the backend.

Saw one in my local pro shop today. It looks like either a darker version of the gold Ti Messenger, or the old Roto Grip Gold Granade from the early 90s, which was a very gorgeous ball.

Sorry, I asked it in a vague manner. I was curious how far under his ring finger is from PAP and how far the MB is from PAP.

i used to color in logos on dark bowling balls, i stopped it when i got on staff. But i know what you mean about too many logos, or the color of them. I had a rebound that was great, that i had to color in the logos, and the same w/an EPX.
