I bought an Icon 300 used, plugged, resurfaced, etc. five months ago, had it drilled, and put about 20-25 games on it... (The previous owner had used it for a grand total of 2 games)

I have left it pretty much at 800 grit Scotch Brite for a while now, but I get virtually no hook out of it... I did bake/sweat/soak it for a bit today and oil poured out, but I didn't go on for too long seeing as it's such a controversial practice and all...

It's to the point that I may polish it and see if it will snap on medium, broken down league shot...

Anyone who has the Icon 300 care to share their surface, conditions it encounters and/or reaction?

The Icon300 is one of those balls that wants to roll at your feet.  If you aren't using it on heavy enough oil, it may just be rolling out.  A quick shot of Black Magic may get the ball to retain enough energy to get the hook shape you are looking for.

Strider is right,

this ball is not for a medium broken down house shot, .....more than likely it's rolling out.....burning WAY too much energy going down the lane!

Scotch brite/ wet sand it to 1500 smooth, then put a coat of Black Magic or your polish of choice....should help quite a bit.....

I love mine at around 800 dull when there is enough oil.  I have it drilled fairly strong with the pin right of my ring and the the CG swung way right.

If there isn't enough oil it burns itself up and can't recover.  However, when the oil is there it is one of the strongest, smoothest balls I have thrown.

I had a weaker drill on it (basically 1:30 label), and it wanted to get down the lane a long way before making a turn when polished, and when dull with a weak drill it did nothing.

My key to success with it was dull with a strong drill, and a pit of polish with a weaker one.

But thats just me, hope it helps
