columbia resurgance
« on: December 15, 2007, 12:42:01 PM »
i just purchased a used resurgance from a gentleman on this site.it will be here tomorrow and my question is....is this ball that aggressive that i should polish it before even throwing it?my ball speed is around 20-22 mph and i have a pretty decent amount of hook as well but the lanes we bowl on tend to breakdown like midway thru the second game.all i'm looking for is a bit of insite from anyone that has a resurgance and their opinion about this.

I've had best results with a lite polish on mine.

I have kept mine OOB and only use it for heavy conditions.  Works great in oil.

I use Ebonite FF,works great.I cut it with a small amount of water and a little goes a long way.I have higher revs and speed in the 16-18 range so the slightly polished resurgence works great for me.I carry a scuff pad just in cas I run into some real oil.

You should always try any ball at OOB finish first, there is a reason ball companies send a ball out in a certain finish, try it first then if you don't like it sure put some polish on it.

I'd try the Lanemasters first only because it polishes up much more gradually than Bean's sauce does. So you can get intermediate stages of low gloss and medium gloss before you go all the way to a high gloss than bean's will give you with its first application. Do it by hand so you don't pass the stage that you need.

FYI another alternative is smoother sanding. The Resurgence comes at 1000 grit stock, I believe. You can try 1500 grit, 2000 grit and then 4000 grit (Stopping at the point where you need it to be) and still keep a relatively smooth transition, as opposed to polishes which tend to be snappier and harder to control.
