Lot of Rival love already?
« on: August 29, 2007, 01:27:13 AM »
I know mine's on the way, and I seem to be hearing a lot of good things about the ball.  Maybe this Ebonite buying of Columbia was a GOOD thing, eh?

If its anything like the Resurgence, your going to love it. I have drilled up alot of balls the past 3 years and the Resurgence is one of the best rolling and hitting balls I have ever drilled up..

I was gonna order a Rival, but Ebonite is 2 weeks behind on shipping right now so gonna give them some time to catch up before I order it..

The Rival is a great ball I have two of them already drilled up.  Jkiser have you tried a light layer of Beans Sauce on your Resurgence?  I tried it last night, but did not like the results at all, the ball just slid which was weird as I did this to one of my rivals and the ball is long and strong now.

Rival is a very strong rolling versatile ball.  I've had one for about a week and I really like the reaction.

I should have mine tomorrow, along with a Kinetic and a Venus.  I'll give my feedback once I roll it a few games, there's a big ABT tourney this weekend and I have a sneaking suspicion the Rival may be the ball that gets me to the finals!

chris,

I have used the Beans sauce on several balls and hated the reaction. I will not ne using it again on any ball.. If someone wants whats left of the bottle, just pay for shipping and its yours..

I am starting to keep balls in OOB condition.. Just works better for me..

I will get a Rival, it will just be a few weeks..

ttt

I used the Rival last week for my league, 288 out the box but then the lanes broke down and it became too much. Currently still in OOB finish, but was thinking of shining it a little, I had room to move straighter the first game and with heavy roll I see with the Rival, I don't think carry will be an issue. Has anyone else changed the surface of a Rival yet and how did the reaction change? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well I went ahead and made the change. I did see a small loss of carry, from no 10 pins last week to a few solid 10's this week. But overall got a much nicer reaction. It actually tamed the reaction a little more then I thought with just a light coating of polish. But I really liked the overall reaction and it allowed by to throw the Rival for all 3 games last night.

The end result:
268 (5th and 6th frame stone 10's)
264 (1st frame stone 9, 2nd frame 3-6-7-10, then sheet)
266 (5th frame 3-6-10, 11th frame stone 10)
798

So I have to give the Rival a big thumbs up.
