I remember on here a while back where numerous people said they had shot some 300's and 800's with the Columbia WILD and I'm wondering if any of you are still having success with this ball?

And have you noticed any "slack" off in the ball's hook potential (as in DEAD BALL syndrome)?

ALSO... I know the WILD's are SuperFlex (and these have no MICA)... but what are the Scout/R's (I think these have MICA)?

drrev,  You may not have meant it like this but, it's not just columbia balls that suffer from ball death.  every ball company's equipment will suffer from ball death eventually.  usually particles go first, then solids, then pearls, (last two are for Reactives of course) so forth and so on.  Now on to the question

I own a Wild and have shot a 2 300s and 3 800s with it.  only ball I own that i've shot an 800 with.  It is a great ball but I have noticed a decline in the way it rolls for me in the past few months.  I am thinking of retiring the ball and probably will soon.  The ball also has upwards of 750 games on it.  And it's got lots of nice deep gouges in it from bowling at a couple of our local BRUNSWICK houses.  If you are still thinking about getting a wild then I would definately go for it.  This is quite possibly one of the greatest balls Columbia has made in the last 10 years IMO.

Hope this helps you Ric.

And I have personally experienced ball death with brunswicks, and storms.  Only company I can say that I haven't experienced ball death with is Lane 1 (which is basically Brunswick) and some of the other small companies.  The only reason I haven't experienced ball death with them is because I have never tried them!  Ball death is a reality, for all companies.  The only reason people keep on saying that columbia's die faster is because of the old TEC death.  This occured when Columbia and most of the other companies were experimenting with particle technology.  At this time not only was Columbia having problems, but so were most of the other companies experimenting with particle technology.  The only reason people called it TEC death is because it sounds better than particle death.

Sorry, about the ranting Ric, but I just get tired of everyone bashing Columbia just because "this ball died on me", or "this ball doesn't work for me", so "this ball sucks".  This is the last time I'm going to post about this in this topic.  If drrev is too worried about this whole rant then they can start up another Topic and we can debate there.

Hope you have good luck with your wild if you get one.

I have a Columbia Icon hooks a ton!  Smooth.

I have an Icon2 rumored to lose hook after but after a bunch of games.
still Snap happy on long oil ....still hooking.

I have a Throttle/R hooking big and awesome crack at the pins.

I have a Panic, still hooking smooth and crackin!

I have Crunch with a columbia coverstock I believe. It has so many games and drillings it looks like a minefield.  Hooks a ton and hits 3 tons!

I sold a Columbia Hyde to a friend, probably 600 games he doesn't hook it much but the Hyde hooks for him.

I have a Wired Bonanza that is totally wired to hoookkk!!!  And hit!

I have a Reaction Rip sitting around in a box waiting to be taken out to HOOOOK!  Man does it hook.

I have a REaction Roll that is one of the biggest hooking sharpest hooking carry from inside on heavy league soup hitting monster ball ever!  HOOOK!

Did I say that Columbia balls hook?!
