My PBA Experience
« on: January 05, 2007, 06:32:52 AM »
I'm lucky enough to have access to the PBA patterns since I'm running a league here in SoCal and I needed to tape the lanes for USBC certification in order to sanction my league as a Sport league. I have the laneman put out Chameleon and we tape the lanes. Afterwards I decided I needed some practice badly since there have been no Regionals since early December and regular league is no way to measure how well I am rolling the ball.

Here is a video of me trying different lines out with several balls. Instead of putting together a 30 minute video of every shot in a row, I put them together in the order of me figuring out each line, or making moves based on what reaction I saw. I also editted out dead time in between shots.

Balls Used;

Action Attack
Power Drive Sanded
Action Max
Jinx
Surge

Every week for the next 12 weeks I will make a video of me trying out each pattern as well as the U.S. Open, T of C,  and PBA World Championship.

Any questions...feel free to ask...

P.S. This is the shot that the first match between BrunsNick and myself will be contested on this Sunday night.

the shot at the end of the video looked the best to me.  Might have limited margin of error but seemed to have the best reaction.

I like the deep line toward the middle of the video as well.

Great video!!  Can't wait to see more

Great video Jon.  It seemed to me that you had a little bit more area when you got deeper.  The outside looked decent as well as long as you kept your speed up.  I'm looking forward to your vids of the other patterns.

What lane surface are you on and what type of pins are those?

AMF HPL 9000, and I think AMFLite II, but not sure on the pins. I'll edit this when I find out.

I agree with V Spec the line towards the end seemed to have the best reaction, at least you knew for sure the ball was going to hook. The inside looked like a good reaction if you threw the ball perfect other wise it looked like it might over/under.

If I was going to play that shot I would play as far right as I could and back off the revs a little which should help hold the ball in the pocket on shots missed a hair inside.

Great video, and awsome idea.

Thanks
