Any C300 Staffers thrown the Blur's?
« on: May 28, 2014, 11:48:17 AM »
Just wondering with it being 2 weeks or so out, if any staffers have thrown the Blur's?
Interested to see with the Full tilt cover and weaker core the strength of these three.

I've thrown the Blur Pearl, should be able to throw the other two in the morning.  The Blur Pearl is floppier than I expected... Good strong motion at the breakpoint.  Doesn't like a ton of oil volume.  It's a couple boards more overall hook than the Freeze Hybrid, and about the same amount of hook as the orange Eruption Pro, just longer/floppier.  Hope this helps, I'll update after throwing the other two!

Do you mean "flippier"?

Yeah thanks that would be great, that Tilt cover with the weaker core I was wondering the most about how strong these would be.
Thanks again

Charlest-  you're right, good catch!  My phone autocorrects that occasionally on me, along with "downlane" and "backend"....not enough bowlers program phones :)

JamminJD-  A lot of people really liked the reaction that the Full Tilt 5.0 cover gave them when on the asymmetric core found in the Full Swing and Pure Swing.  For me, the balls were " good", but not"great".  While I can't use the Blur Pearl on as many conditions as I could the Full/Pure Swing, it looks better on the conditions I CAN use it on (medium volume or lighter, medium length) and that is more important for me.

Didn't get to throw the other two this morning....will try again Monday night!

I think this line is going to be sneaky good!! Mid to low performance?? Nope :D

Blur Pearl is very clean, and flippy off the spot for sure.. I love mine! The Blur Solid is stronger than I expected, as I moved left with it and was happy to see a strong overall motion (not super flippy). I may hit it with a 2000 pad (per suggestion from JeffVoghtC300 actually!) to see if it might read the front of the lane a hair quicker. I haven't thrown the Hybrid a whole lot. Hope to get some time on the lanes in this week, and I could possibly have more info then.

Yeah I had a feeling these might be stronger than anticipated. I seen a video of the Solid and that thing looks good and strong!

Whats up with Columbia not making vids for these balls? Same thing with Track, im very intrigued by the tour x but havent seen any vids for it. Just seems strange considering it gets released to the public tomorrow. Bad marketing i would say.

Sorry for the delay in videos!  I have a couple publicly accessible on my Facebook page from about a week ago if you'd like to check them out?  I compared the Blur and Freeze Series.

I hope the Blur Solid works well for you at 2000, Joey!  You've always been good at helping me out as well.

I drilled a Blur pearl with a 70 x 2" x 25 layout, which placed the pin close to my pap and above it. I wanted it to not be as flippy, but more a strong arc and that's what I got. I was able to play up the oil line and if I got it right early, it didn't over read and jump. I really like what I saw with this ball and I have the solid and hybrid to drill. Just my $.02, Bruce

I really like that layout as well, great for drier conditions for me also. Sounds like The Blur's are going to be great cheaper alternative..

Not a staffer so I hope OK to post.
But maybe I looked like one for my first day with this ball, getting a 9 or 10 bagger in my first league set with this ball.

I really am loving this ball so far.  Blur Solid.

The cover is very tacky and attracts a lot of rubber from our belts.

Not drilled too strong on Recommendation from one of the probably best ball drillers in the country.  6 by 5 1/4.  Pin under middle.  Almost the length with strong arc drilling from Columbia but weaker pin position for push.

Allows me to play like a classic blended top hat for lefties even though my pattern is an extreme wet/dry top hat that usually forces me in.  With the drilling above I can play straight up 8 and get the results I often get on real well prepared and blended top hats.  Classic lefty eat it up type of results.

Still strong enough to bring some hit.  I believe I could have made this ball much stronger, but I have other solids for that.  But I like the easy push this drilling provides through what usually is an area that pushes like pavement!

Regards,
