Author Topic: Input on SCOUT HI-FLARE URETHANE? (Read 3448 times)

I'm looking for a ball to use on light oil to dry-side of light.

How much does this ball actually flare?

I'm looking for a ball to use on late night league shot, when the track is scorched. Lanes are stripped once a week, and I'm at the tail end of the week.

I was thinking of a Hammer Vibe, but am afraid reactives of any kind out of the question on this shot.

Glorified spare ball for me... this layout still flares about 1.5".

How does it hit compared to plastic?

Pins fly all over the place with this ball. If I pick up a 7-10 with a spare ball it's going to be this one. I'm not sure if its slightly smaller than the average ball in my collection, but pins don't often stay low.

I use this ball for league (THS) The ball does well for me. This ball drives well through the pocket, however it is not like a reactive. Alot strikes I get with this ball look weak. (Not pretty, but gets the job done).

One thing I like about it is that it does not over react.

I have newly drilled one of these. Pin next to ring, cg in span. The ball flares 4+ inches. It is definately a dry lane ball as it is much weaker than my Sonic X. It seems to carry well, but I have not used it on lanes dry enough to see if I really like it. I'm hopefull that this ball will be a success. I have had trouble filling the gap between my Sonic X and my Storm Football. I tried a Power Groove Dry/r and a Big Hit. Both do too much on dry and too little on oil. Over under hell. Here's hopeing the Scout hi-flare urethane is better!

I got a chance to put some games on it under pretty dry conditions. It is clean through the heads even on broken down lanes. It then starts in the midlane and hooks in a very continuous arc. The ball is great on a faily small swing out to the 5-10 board at the breakpoint and then a continuous move move to the pocket. The ball carries well light, flush, and high, but it will leave that stone ten on half pocket hits. For me at least, the ball doesn't like to be swung over a lot of boards as this seems to cause an erratic breakpoint. As the lanes begin to hook too much for a direct line I just pick up my ball speed and target further down the lane.
This is a good ball for when you can't seem to keep your reactive stuff from going high but there is still a little too much oil for plastic.

Sounds like it will fill the bill for me.
I'm looking for something stronger than plastic. My reactive all go south off my hand. Even if I raise my ball speed to my max. of about 19-20 mph.
