Columbia 300: "Freeze HYBRID & SOLID" - WWRD; 2012_05-01

Hmm, I might have my eyes on the "HYBRID" for Nationals
Columbia 300: "Freeze Hybrid"

New Era Hybrid is the perfect mix of solid and pearl materials and is  designed for great length and strong back end.   The Modified Messenger  core is one of the most successful cores in Columbia 300’s great  history.

The Freeze Hybrid is finished with 800, 1000, 2000 Abralon® and with  Powerhouse Factory Polish® for a great reaction on medium to dry lanes.

The Freeze Hybrid takes the popular Freeze line to new levels of performance for any bowler.

Columbia 300: "Freeze Solid"

New Era Solid provides a wider foot print on the lane than previous  Freeze coverstocks for more overall reaction.  The Modified Messenger  core core is one of the most successful cores in Columbia 300’s great  history.

The Freeze Solid is finished with 800, 1000, 2000 Abralon® and then  with Powerhouse Factory Polish for a great reaction on medium to dry  lanes.

I know theyll do well, but I think they waited too long for this. Why are they releasing the solid polished?

My guess would be that if it was dull, it would be too close to the Benchmark?  By adding polish it creates enough of a gap to warrant having both if you wanted both?  Kinda psyched for the hybrid!

They polish most of the balls, mainly for shelf appeal.

Just got back from the nationals.  The Freeze will be a good ball, but be sure to knock the poish off them before you go.  Polish makes the balls too touchy to be really effective.  A lot of over/under reaction and carry really sucked.

At Nationals, maybe, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be great on THS for most people, which is where it will mostly be used.

For the nationals, I would knock the shine off them.  The polished will give you too much over under and cause the ball to be flippy.  go with a 4000 sand over the polish.

Got mine in and they are both really good looking bowling balls.  I immediately took the cover of the solid down to 4000 grit wet sand just to take off the polish.  I will be throwing them tonight and comparing to the original Freeze, drilled all three the same 55 x 4 1/2 x 40.

Agreed, but the post was mentioned Nationals specifiically.
