Title: Enigma
Post by: Big Jake on June 18, 2013, 10:39:31 AM
Hello Folks,
Well, I ordered the "Enigma" yesterday and I should get it Wednesday just in time for my Wednesday and Friday league!

I have been throwing DV8 this year and I really like DV8 but I thought I would try another brand and so "Columbia 300" won  8)

Its been a very long time since I threw Columbia and I'm sure the ball will be great...

Welcome back to Columbia!!  Think you will like this ball alot.  Make sure that when it gets punched up that the drilling is not very strong.  With the strong core and cover at 1500, a strong layout is going to make this ball very pukey on the backend unless you plan to take the cover up to 3000 or 4000.

Ball is extremely strong. I like my stronger drilled one better than my weaker one, but surface is key. My stronger drilled one is a monster on oil and straighter angles. Ball gave me an incredible look at nationals on the team pattern. My high pin (weaker drilled one) is a very controlled strong ball, but I ring quite a few corners with it.

Might just be me and how I roll the ball, but locally too the stronger drilled ones with surface adjusted to the pattern your using it on have been very good.

WOW! the Enigma is waaaaay strong. Just what I am looking for so I would like someones input on a ball to go under it.

Would the Dark Encounter be to much ball to go right under it or should  I try something like the Mass Eruption, or the Vow, or the Benchmark...

 thanks, Jake

I would look at the Smackdown to go under your Enigma. I haven't been able to throw mine much but so far the Enigma sure hits the spot on Heavy Oil.

Hello again, well I got a $250.oo birthday certificate for my Pro drillers shop  8) so I ordered the "Oath" to got under my "Enigma" and I also ordered the "Freeze" hybrid to use when the lane permits, WOOT!! WOOT!!!

OK, so I tried the Freeze Hybrid and Oath and they are really really good balls. The Oath was waaay stronger then what I thought it would be for being 4K Abralon and the Freeze is a great ball to have when the lanes are going dryer, not dry but dryer, plus great carry on both balls.

I picked them up yesterday and only tried them in practice and so tonight in my Friday night league I'll get to break them in :-)

So I my arsenal for my Friday night league was: The Oath - Freeze Hybrid - DV8 Terror - DV8 Misfit.

There really wasn't a lot of oil in game 1 so I tried the Oath anyway which for a 4K abralon ball is what I classify as a super strong ball. Game 2 I used my Terror and towards the end of game 2 I was leaving many 10s

so I started using my new Freeze Hybrid and that out hooked my Terror by a lot :o :o

I guess I was thinking that the Freeze Hybrid  was a dry lane ball not a desert dry but definitely not a medium ball which I found out at least where I bowl that there needs more oil than what was there in game 3. The Freeze Hybrid goes sideways

when hitting the dry, I'll say this, its a fun ball to throw and I'll be more prepared for my 3 leagues this week thats for sure....on a side not I had no idea that Columbia had this strong of bowling balls  8)

Later all, PEACE!!
