How appropriate that the little computer animation at the end almost left the flat 10.

Del himself said that you need to keep it in the oil. While it may not roll out as much, quite a few of those strikes in that video were not hitting hard. Some of them they even overdubbed a louder & more forceful strike sound.

Naturally the ball is gonna look good because they put down the ideal conditions to show the ball on, and didn't let you see how fast the ball would burn the track. I've got a house in mind to use that ball at, but even low end pearls burn the track up there like you wouldn't believe. Laneshield can't hold a shot worth stuff. Looks like a good ball though, don't get me wrong. Has anybody seen the pricetag on it though? Retail is $310 . . .

The ball, although epoxy based, does have plasticizers in it. They create the pore structure that absorbs lane oil to increase friction, but the biggest input into the increaed is the other "seceret" chemical enhancers.

BTW, Barnes and his wife bowled at Don Carter West in Dallas for the video on the standard house shot, no "special" lane conditions for filming. We walked in, shot the video, were out by noon.

Thanks for clearing that up. Think you can give us some info on Eryn Brooke? Just kidding, but what I'd really like to know is info on Track's upcoming epoxy ball. Because epoxy is still in its infancy, will there be any changes to 'The Machine's' coverstock vs. the EPX T1's coverstock? Also, is there any info on the core Track will be using in their epoxy release?

Here's something interesting:
Del Waren said (although I can't quote exactly) that as an experiment of oil absorption and ball death, an EPX T1 was submerged in a vat of lane oil for 48 hours. After the 48h, it was taken out and it went as straight as an arrow. The ball was then put in a rejuvenation oven where the ball was 'de-oiled'. After the rejuvenation process, the ball was back to box reaction.

It seems that the new epoxy coverstock will have an awesome overall life compared to urethane based coverstocks. That's an awesome added bonus on top of the extreme enhanced performance of the ball!

No stuff . . hmm. Now, I realize that 8 years of research and development had to cost a lot, but price is a huge thing with bowlers. As a pro shop operator, it's hard to market a ball that costs 70 bucks MORE than the high performance stuff. I suppose it's no different than selling Lane 1 stuff, but lol, we can't do that in the first place. I might get adventurous and drill one up eventually (even though Columbia's not my pot of tea by a long shot). We have one in our shop, and it'll probably stay there unless myself or the owner drills it. I hate to harp on the price, but like I said, it's not bowler friendly at all. I'm sure the "new factor" will help it out quite a bit, but besides that, 90% of league bowlers don't need that much hook. If I bowled on wet stuff, I'd drill it if only out of curiousity, but one house burns in 4 frames, and at the other you can swing plastic from 16 to 8. Again, I'm POSITIVE it cost a ton to develop this ball, and I'm sure you'd sell it for cheaper if you could. Lol, but you have marketing guys with statistics and I'm sure you get a lot of feedback, so who am I to give advice?

I crossed next to Chris and his partner this weekend during a mixed doubles tournament. Chris threw the T1 during the first 3-5 games of the tournament. Did also see him throw a couple Big Bullys and the The Professional.

The shot was fairly slick. I threw my box dull Big Bully, shiny Big Bully a little and Smokin Inferno when the heads started going. The tournament was run on some kind of Sport Pattern, maybe a modified PBA pattern. Chris could get the EPX ball of the gutter very well. I had hang on the gutter on most lanes.

Chris crushed them during qualifying, shot 275 over for 8, leading male. I shot 35 over and was 8th male out of 30 on my squad. Chris made a semi tough shot look dead easy. I thought they were easier than what I bowled. I spared well (missed 3) which is good for me. Just didn't strike very much.

This ball hooks a bunch. Chris throws it hard and throws 16lbs, and the ball hits very good! You will have to have some oil though, this ball isn't going to like dry boards in the front very much. He is right in the video, PBA tournaments are mostly on synthetics and the tour is mostly on Pro Anvil Hang. Chris could/probably will have a monster year!

BTW, did not see other Columbia Staffers (Wes Mallot, Mark Williams) throwing this ball.

He was talking to someone about his layouts, and he said he had "It drilled with the pin and cg stacked on his span line under the fingers."

I think he was talking about the Professional. I just kinda overheard, sorry man.

I watched his feet when I could, the EPX ball did out hook his Big Bully by about 5 boards with his feet, and probably a couple with his target. As good as Chris is, and as much as he gets on it, that would be a significant amount to me.
