First Night Out with the Big Shot
« on: March 12, 2007, 01:44:08 PM »
I had my Big Shot punched up tonight.  It has the pin to the left of the ring, and the cg directly below.  No X-hole.

I bowled on a THS tonight with a little OOB around 2-4.

The ball got nice length and started a nice rev in the midlane, and was nice and smoooth on the backend.  The hit was very good.  I threw the ball really well tonight, but the Big Shot gave me some nice carry.  I didn't strike if I got slow (6pin) or at the beginning of the set when I left back to back 7 pins.  I adjusted half a board and then I was fine.

I threw 2 bad shots...one where I dropped the ball and had a high pocket 6-8 and the 10th of the 3rd game when I spun the ball and left a church that just happened to be greek.

I had games of 228, 235, 229 for a 692 series.  I missed a 7 pin, two 6 pins (UGH), the greek church I picked off 3, the 6-8 I missed them both, and that was it.  So as you can see if I was good, I would have been in the 720's at least.

Overall I'd have to say I am impressed with this ball.  I haven't been a fan of any of the Columbia stuff I've thrown in the past couple years. (EPX, Action, Action Packed) but I was determined.  It is a shame that Columbia sold out.  I think this ball might have been a step in the right direction.

Okay so I had a chance to use this on the tougher condition that I face on Friday nights.  This is definately not the right ball in the OOB surface for this pattern.  The ball gets a little longer, but when it wants to turn, it turns.  Very hard to control.  Also if I missed a tad left, the ball was skating like crazy.

It's not only this ball though, anything with any kind of polish at this house, for me, does the same thing.  When I did make good shots, which were very few and far between, the ball still hit like a MACK TRUCK.

Like I said before, Columbia was on the right track with this ball.

Spider Ball Bowler, Friday at Bowl One is a THS?  When you have that many bowlers (130) and 214 is 10th best in the league I wouldn't consider that a THS. Just my thoughts...see ya Friday.

No Friday is definately not a THS.  I was talking about Monday.  Friday is the shot from hell  I'm averaging a whopping 195, and it's going to go down after my absolutely ridiculous set I threw last week.

I just can't seem to control any of the newer polished stuff at that house.  That is why the Black Widow works so well.
