honest opinion needed
« on: February 07, 2011, 12:16:36 AM »
I use a burst (3" pin over bridge, cg kicked out under ring) and a outburst (2" pin under bridge, cg kicked out under ring) and I really like throwing these two balls at my home alley, the burst more so.  We have wood lanes with synthetic overlays, and on this naturally high friction surface, these two balls are all I need and more.  However, I went to a tourney last weekend and bowled on true synthetics, where both my balls labored a bit, the burst more so, and I ended up throwing the outburst more.  I will be bowling state in a a few weeks and think maybe I should get a ball above each of these, although I am not looking for a ton more ball.  I like columbia balls, but am open to other suggestions.  I am thinking a pure physics for a ball above the outburst, and maybe a hammer jigsaw trap.  My reasoning is that the trap has the same about the same rg as the burst, with more diff.  the pure physics has a bit more rg, but seems to have the same look as my outburst but stronger.  They are also asymetric which will be a bit different than the burst and outburst.  any thoughts or suggestions as nobody at my house throws these, and i have not seen them in person?  I am a tweener with about 15 mph and around 350 revs.  opinions are appreciated

I would say take a look at the TRACK 715T.....its going to be stronger than the Outburst and would look like a good step up, midprice ball with great performance, need oil, does great on synthetics...The both RG and dif are higher, cover is pretty strong...

I threw both the Pure Physics and the 715T at a Demo Days last fall and ended up going with the Pure Physics as it was more controllable for me than the 715T.  I am a tweener myself that throws around 15mph, not sure on the revs.

Good Luck!

hey thanks for the answers.  i have never seen the track 715t but from what it sounds like the pure physics sounds a bit smoother.  I am not a big fan of skid flip so maybe the physics is what I should go with.  i was looking for the same motion just stronger than the outburst

Weird cause I think the 715T is very controllable and smooth, it does have great continuation on the backend.
Good Luck with your choice, Im sure either ball would be great

Are you throwing the Burst and Outburst in box finish? Because Outburst comes at 1000 abralon and that is a lot of ball. That being said, the pure physics will give you less midlane read than the outburst, but it will give you more overall hook, and a more defined breakpoint. And when you say a ball above each, do you mean stronger? Or weaker? Because those balls are only separated by a slight difference in the cover and surface prep... Something between might be a pure swing at say 2000 grit. Or another option, since you like the burst and outburst so much, is just get another of each and adjust the layout and surface to what you want to do.... The outburst is pretty much the earliest, smoothest ball columbia makes. And for the price you really cant beat em.... Hope this helps!

The problem with socialism is, you eventually run out of other people's money too...

You may also want to consider a world beater.  For me the world beater is pretty smooth despite the high r.g. in the ball.  It rolls nicely in the midlane with good continuation on the back.  It won't roll as early as the outburst but it covers more boards than it.  I have both and my world beater has a little weaker layout than my outburst.  I'm a tweener with a decent amount of revs.
