Momentum Swing
« on: February 11, 2010, 05:31:46 AM »
I picked one of these up a couple months ago pretty cheap on ebay, it was a single drill LH's ball. Not knowing a whole lot about the ball other than it was symetric, i decided on a 4.5" pin to pap distance, with a 3" pin to cg distance and no weight hole.

After several outings im kinda on the fence with this ball. I know its not the drilling because its one of my fav's for symetric pieces hence the reason for going with it. The ball is super strong off any friction when playing tight lines, too the point playing straighter is not an option. On the flipside, when i have to move inside, anything sent from inside of 15 seems to labor back something terrible. Right now the surface is 2000 abralon. im wondering what others on here have seen out of this piece, and what surfaces work well on it. Im almost leaning to maybe its just a bad match for me, but i dont want to give up yet. I think im gonna start with a surface change, my specs are in my profile, what do you guys suggest?

Well, OOB my Momentum Swing was just not much good.  It didn't hook much, labored on the backend quite a bit.  I hit mine with 800 grit paper, it came to life and solidified a place in my bag.

For some reason, this ball hooks a ton when I get my axis tilt up.  I've got a bunch of games on it at this point and haven't de-oiled it.  I've only touched up the surface occasionally and it is still my most hooking ball.

oh theres no loss of hook with it for me either, just tends to not want to finish when im inside of 15. like i said too, it hits really hard and i like the way it rolls, its just too much playing tighter and not enough opening them up so im confused on which way i need to go with it. in terms of strength, it fits under my virtual gravity and above my dynamo x2 and eraser.

If you want it to finish more then take the surface up. The cover on that ball is sneaky strong, but it doesnt flare alot. Thats why you can see the ball cover alot of ground and read the lane early without over-reacting

Yep, mine is 4.5" pin to pap and the flare rings are somewhat close together considering the "strongish" pin placement.

Drilling my Total Bedlam this weekend, perhaps I'll make a comparison vid!

Depending on the pin location and if you use the gradient line xhole technique, a hole at p3 or p4 can raise the diff a bit and possible get a little more separation.

Personally, I like the ball with the strong cover and tight flare. On flatter or PBA shots this ball is very good at controlling the back
