FIGJAM - Freeze
« on: March 12, 2010, 02:54:04 AM »
Well I did what I normally do on a typical house shot. Attack the breakpoint with my HyRoad and then move to a strong pearl. Well I usually move to my Gravity Shift, but it was to much for the burn right so I decided to use the Freeze. Not a bad showing for what is the best value ball on the market:

Game 1: 226
Game 2: 300
Game 3: 245

Total:  771

Nice shooting.  What game did you switch to the Freeze?  I just picked one up and had it drilled 80* x 5-1/8" x 30*, which puts the pin over the ring and the CG at grip center.  For $130 drilled, the performance on this ball is ridiculous.  The Freeze with this layout is a bit more angular than I expected, so I may knock some of the shine off with a white Scotchbrite pad.

Keep up the good scores!

What does attacking the break point mean?

Go to the USBC section of the forums and look up for the report from nationals. Riggs does into detail about lane management.

Basically what I do is determine the length of the pattern - 31 from that number that gives me my initial breakpoint. Then if one is available I look at a lane graph to see where the topography of the pattern decrseases substantially and attack that part of the pattern through to the break point.

Basically, when broken down correctly (depending on who you are bowling with) will make a house shot stupid easy to the point it's just a carry contest. By breaking down that spot it gives you bump outside and hold if you miss inside.

Felt good though that no one else on the pair shot above 598.

Oh, and the ball is drilled with the Chris Barnes special:

Pin over middle finger with the MB just to the right of the thumb. Long and strong, but not overly angular. Typically this is my go to ball for blown out short patterns.
