Has anyone tried polishing a Resurgence?
« on: October 25, 2007, 11:07:42 PM »
I have had this ball for a couple of months and LOVE it in box finish but was curious if anyone had polished it and if so, what where the results..

much longer...made it actually useable on my THS...same smooth/big arc downlane reaction, it didn't really "jump" a whole lot more for me, which i was very happy to see...

I used Bean's secret sauce to polish it.

Yeap, demoed the ball and could not really get a good feel for at its box surface. The pattern at hand was not oily enough to get a great depiction at that state. I either got crash and burn or just too early of a read. Threw some polish on there and the ball really showed its range.

I used it today after polishing it with Ebonite Factory Finish polish and I loved the reaction much better than box finish.. It got down the lane farther and finished just as hard..

I will use it tomorrow night in league and see how I do..

I have a question on this topic.....Why?

Why go out and buy a ball designed for heavy oil, designed to use it's dull surface to read the midlane very early and then shine it up? Why not buy a less aggresive ball, in this case a Rival maybe, and use it for these types of conditions?

I just don't understand why people go and but aggressive balls and then try to use them on medium THS patterns. I have a Rival and a Resurgence, and I know when I go to my Wednesday league, since it is a second shift league, I leave the Resurgence at home. Please don't take this as any disrepect to anyone or trying to bash anyone...just trying to understand the thinking here. To me this is like saying I need to move a dresser from my house to your house so I am going to go get an 18-wheeler. Will it get the job done, yes it can, but you are buying way more then you need. A simple pickup truck will do the same thing, and it will cost you less. Same thing here. The Rival will probably get you what you are looking for, at a less expensive price. IMHO

Jorge-
I think it is about versatility.  It gets too expensive to keep a bunch of one trick ponies in the bag.  If the Resurgence can better handle mediums with some sort of cover adjustment, along with heavier/longer OOB, then you have a much more versatile piece.  Before you say that that is true of any ball, I will say it's not.  I've had lots of balls that did not take to cover adjustments well at all.  The Epic being first and foremost on my mind.  On medium/heavy it is the best ball I've ever used...but because of it's non-versatility in cover adjustments, it is just that.  All of this depends of course on knowing exactly what you will be bowling on beforehand.

I can understand playing around with the cover to see different reactions out of the ball, you never know unless you try.I did'nt need another medium oil ball so I hit mine lightly with 500 and just use it for heavier oil, works great.

yes,  just yesterday.  took a 1000 pad cover to a 600 polished cover.

still had guts in oil,  but was able to turn the corner better.
