New Cores

When is columbia going to get it's head out of the dark ages and come out with some new cores? The only core that is relatively new is the core in the Bully's, but thats been around for a few years already now.

Columbia uses cores over and over again.  How many new cores have they come up with in the past 5 years?  Not many

What can I say, I love the fact that their keeping the same cores.  I say use whatever works.  The old cores have worked great so why change?

I do not think you are correct. There are few really new cores. Some asymmetric are new. Symmetrics, well, the secret to the performance of a bowling ball is NEVER a new core but the matching of the coverstock and its finish to the core.

The Inferno and Zone lines have had the sames cores for several years, and Brunswick faithful don't seem to mind.  By shifting weight, using different density materials, and relocating flip blocks, a ball can take on different reaction characteristics.  Combine that with coverstock advancements and you're copying Big B with a proven formula for success.

Old cores must not be a bad thing. In fact, it is just physics that work and a core can be reduced to RG data and mass distribution. If this works, why change the "wheels on the car", or at least the basic concept?

When I look at Brunswick, the mushroom core from the 'Tude balls made it into about 10 balls, ending with the Monster balls. But there had been slight modifications, flip blocks etc. to match specific demands. The Inferno cores are similar, and now they start to trickle into the international balls. If it works, why not?

if people keep buying them, columbia will still make them.
If u want columbia to make a new core, simply stop buying their product.

This is why I don't buy columbia. The last balls I have baught are storm and Track. I just have wondered why they have not come out with many new cores. And yeah, Big B is the same way. I suppose it is where you want to invest your efforts I suppose.

It depends on how you define success. I think I understand however why MoRich, Dynothane, Rotogrip and Visionary are getting so popular. They have new things to offer, not neccesarily better, just newer. And you are correct about track, but in their high end assym and assym stuff, those cores are all fairly new.
