How is everyone liking the Columbia 300 Line
« on: February 10, 2012, 03:04:57 AM »
Topic says it all, just trying to see how everyone is liking the current Columbia 300 Line.

I personally am loving the Ransom Demand and Dark Encounter, both of my Dark Encounters give me a smooth control roll, when I need something with more backend I just switch to the Ransom Demand.

Another great ball for me is the Omen, I have only been able to use this ball on a few shots though as I drilled it up for Heavy oil.

I recently purchased my first ever Columbia ball, as normally Im a 900 global and AMF guy.  It is a Ransom Demand.  I absolutley love this ball!  Shot my first honor score last night with it!  And I am a low 200 avg bowler.  I can use this ball straight up the track when the shot is fresh or cover as many boards as needed once it breaks down, all with just a change of hand positions.  Very consistant ball!  Now Im interested in their other balls!

I like the Encounter.  I am considering a Dark Encounter for heavier tournament shots.

CPA - if you are looking for tournament balls look at the Dark Encounter, but also do not leave out the Omen.  I have one drilled up pin down and the ball will handle heavy oil with no problem and has a very controlled roll off the breakpoint.

Glad to see a few posts about people liking the new equipment from Columbia.

I had a Ransom Demand but it seemed to die quickly. I have an Omen which I like. It is very smooth and great for fresh, up the boards. After It starts hooking early I have to put it away. The Dark Encounter sounds good, sort of like an Omen with more backend.

I have a Ransom Demand and really love the ball.
I demo'd the Eruption and thought it was a good ball, though not as angular on the back end as some would lead you to believe. Still, I thought it seemed like a pretty good ball for the money. For comparison, I got a very similar reaction from a Marvel Pearl, which is quite a bit more expensive.
I also demo'd the Encounter and thought it was a decent ball, though I felt like it had mid-level performance at a premium price point. I was anticipating something sharper on the back end, but it was more rolly than I expected. Still, I was able to strike with it regularly - just from tighter angles than I was expecting to play.
