Columbia Action Attack
« on: February 17, 2010, 12:31:32 AM »
I can get my hands on a NIB AA I was curious with the age of the ball and the coverstock wheter it would be a good step down  ball from a FULL SWING when the lanes start to break down and the FULL SWING is to much. I dont have a whole lot of hand 250 revs and am a straighter player, I dont have much success with Columbia's mid price line (i.e. NOIZE LINE) so I was curious if this ball would work or if any of you have any other suggestions they would greatly be of help. Thanks

I have one (had it since it came out) and longevity, consistent-roll and carry are what immediately comes to mind.  I don't have a full swing so I don't know how they compare/contrast, but I would say the AA is great on any med to heavy oil - just drill it for desired reaction and adjust the coverstock to fit the conditions.  I wouldn't want to rely on it for broken down conditions though, as it definitely needs head oil and relatively clean backends.  It would be a good middle ball if you have a pearl to go to for broken down conditions.  Polished the AA gets a little squirrely, but anywhere from 1,000 to 4,000 grit surface is fine.  One more thing, if you do want to use it as the lanes break down: as you move left to get more head oil, you'll have to tighten up your line to the pocket as it has a very low RG - early roll and not alot of backend recovery.
