Is there any difference in ball reaction in the 2 WILD's?
« on: May 12, 2004, 03:25:24 PM »
What's the difference in the 2 different WILD's? Besides color, why did they come out with 2 of them? Are they different in any way?

If you click on the 2 following links, you'll see where Columbia has 2 completely different "Coverstock Benifits" descriptions:

http://www.columbia300.com/gear/balls.cfm?bid=144

Coverstock Benefit: Creates more skid in oil and "LESS" flip on dry boards.

http://www.columbia300.com/gear/balls.cfm?bid=153

Coverstock Benefit: Creates more skid in oil for "MORE" flip on dry boards.

So is one of these a "misprint", or does one have a bigger backend than the other?

And how does the WILD compare to the SCOUT?

Well the normal WIld(goldish yellow one) is a really great dry lane ball. Once this thing hits the dry, it takes off. So when they say, more flip on dry, thats true.

However, I was always under the impression that both Wilds were the same. But maybe the R/G/R is less aggresive on the dry?

As far as I know, the scout is the same as the wild, except foe the coverstock. I preffer the Wild over it.

Mike Austin, I believe, has said that the Wilds were identical to the Scouts except the Wilds do not have the mica in the coverstock.
"It has a similar weight block to the Scout/R, but doesn't have the mica in the shell the Scout/R has, therefore it has better length. Goes as long as the Pearl Beast, but has more back end."

Scouts were pearl Wilds were solid superflex.  Same core.

Solid blue/violet Tornado and Wild are very similar Tornado has a touch more flare potential and curl.

Both Wilds were the same except for color.  Retains energy for MORE flip in backend both balls!

My wife was looking for a new dry lane ball, so I e-mailed Columbia for her, and asked about any differences between the Wild's and Scout Reactives.  The response was, pick a color, they're all basically the same ball.

Wait sec, Doug.
I am fairly sure that the Trooper is pearlized urethane with the Scout/Wild core, and the Super Trooper is polished solid Super-Flex (resin).
